What does being BOLD mean to you? I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Leigh Burgess on 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘓𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘥𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘵. We talked about what being BOLD means to each of us. For me, it means unabashedly going after something when you're not quite sure what the outcome will be. I've made a few bold career moves over the years: 🔸 Leaving Coca-Cola, one of the world's most admired companies, to go to work for Moviefone, an early-stage internet company in the late 90s. 😳 🔸 Leaving Time Inc. (and a job where I would always get a call back!) to go out on my own and build a startup investing practice 😱 🔸 After traditionally publishing my first book with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, taking a chance on an independent woman-owned publisher, Angela Engel, who is taking a different (and bold!) approach to publishing. 📚 What does being BOLD mean to you? #LoveYourCareerBook #Bold
In my book ONE BOLD MOVE A DAY, I define a Bold Move as a meaningful action that helps you move forward, learn, and grow. Celebrating you and your Bold Moves, Fran! They inspire others. Keep shining and sharing. And love seeing Angela Engel’s name, too.
I love your journey, Fran! So inspiring. I still want to hear more about your work in startup investing. Being bold means going where you’ve never been. I remember the first time I met with Neltje for my Women in Wyoming project— she painted 10x30 foot paintings in her 80s, an incredibly physical feat that required determination, passion, and A LOT of boldness. It made me reimagine my idea of scale and what was possible creatively no matter your age. Being bold means you’re taking a risk. You are making a measured decision with no guaranteed outcome, but living this way keeps you on a path that’s more authentic, exciting, and opens doorways you never knew existed. Being bold doesn’t mean a big, life changing action though— it can mean having a difficult conversation you’ve been avoiding, changing a habit, or something else seemingly small that can lead to big shifts. Anytime you embody courage and go where you’ve never been, that’s bold!
You are bold, inspiring, and I'm so glad to be reconnected with you. Keep doing you and leading the way, Fran Hauser 👏
Hi Fran. Hope you and the family are well! Love the post. It seems like one bold move leads to another. But, we all know life usually doesn't work out that way. Was there a bold miss (or lesson) along the way?
Fran Hauser — Thank you for always inspiring and living your purpose! I love reading your posts! For me, boldness is typing this response! 😉 It means courageously stepping outside my comfort zone despite my fears because I believe there is a greater purpose to learn, do, and share with others. My hope is to one day support others in finding their true value and reaching their highest potential! 😊
