How Can Drop Jumps Help an Athlete? We've answered this question before, specifically in regard to the benefit of drop jumps in testing. Depending on how an athlete lands on either one or both legs, many rehab technologies can sense deficits in a player's leg performance and give coaches and clinicians the information they need to help prevent a developing injury or measure recovery from a preexisting injury. However, drop jumps can be just as useful for training as they are for testing. The study cited below used male soccer players as a testing group, measuring how repeated drop jump tests affected leg performance over time. They found that athletes who regularly trained with drop jumps significantly improved plyometric strength and speed in their legs, allowing them to jump more powerfully than before! Do you use drop jumps in your athletic training? Have your athletes noticed a difference? #sportsrehab #sportsrehabilitation #sportsrecovery #sportsperformance #sportsperformancetraining #sportsphysiotherapy #physicaltherapy #rehab #acl #aclrehab #reaction #neuroplasticity #neurorehabilitation

Founder/CEO: Agility training and rehab technologies for coaches, physical therapists, ATCs, patients, and athletes.

However, drop jumps can be just as useful for training as they are for testing. The study cited below used male soccer players as a testing group, measuring how repeated drop jump tests affected leg performance over time. They found that athletes who regularly trained with drop jumps: 🦵Improved overall plyometric strength ⬆️ Jumped higher on average 🪽Reacted more immediately to ground contact Do you use drop jumps in your athletic training? The Thrower’s Ten Program is an effective baseline arm care routine to implement with all overhead athletes. 1. This program utilizes the most important evidence-based exercises, specifically chosen to benefit the throwing athlete. 2. Adapt the dosage of sets/reps/resistance depending on whether the athlete is currently in-season or in the offseason. 3. Incorporate daily throwing at the completion of the program to encourage carryover as well as continued adaptation and tolerance to exercise. Mullaney M, Nicholas S, Tyler T, Fukunaga T, McHugh M. Tendon Rehab Part 4 🏀 Within tendon rehab, There’s the concept of stress-shielding, which explains how even though an athlete is going through active rehab, the injured portion of the tendon is never being hit because the uninjured portion is taking the stimulus. How can we overcome this? Not sure yet, but some ideas from Ebonie Rio, Jill Cook, Enda King, and Alex Natera have led me to this: If we can put the tendon (patella, quad in this case) in a biomechanical of stress AND hold this position for extended periods of time (30-60 seconds), we can overcome (hopefully) stress shielding and accumulate time under tension. *just a working theory at this point using the knowledge by great researchers in the field. #athletictraining #athletictherapy #athleticperformance #athleticmedicine #strengthandconditioning #sportsperformance #sportsmedicine #sportschiropractic #basketball #basketballperformance #sportscience

⭕️Cup Therapy Tuesday with Brandon Aiyuk ⭕️ Cup Therapy has set the stage for us here with our off season training. Their philosophy is a huge part of our 🧱RESET🧱 In the first video, you’ll see cups being places in the paraspinals while facilitating left abdominal wall. Secondly, you’ll see us working on on achieving quad and hip flexor elongation of the Left side. The combination of the two drills are key for us to helps us get into the bread and butter of what we do at Progressive Motion, 🧱Re-Organize🧱 the rib cage, pelvis, and foot. We often will use breath as a vehicle to get the ribs and the pelvis to stack on top of one another, thereby improving the rotational space available for the shoulder and hip joints. Once we’ve focused on that as a main priority, we extend our efforts into improving qualities on the foot (great toe and midfoot mobility specifically). The key here is then bridge the Reorganization work into Reloading qualities of deceleration work and getting him ready to be able to integrate into Les and Tyler’s work. My guy built a crazy team around him. Les, Tyler…he ready!! 👀 @les7spellman @ty.nunn Let’s keep building BA! 🧱🔗🧱 #CupTherapyTuesday #physiotherapy #itsmorethanphysio #physicaltherapy #hipmobility
