Whole Person Outcomes sends an automated text message once a week to your clients, with a quick 5-question survey crafted by the World Health Organization. While the WHO-5 Well-being survey is well known in other parts of the world, many Americans are unfamiliar with it. That's why we're so glad to bring you this Thursday's session with Andrew Downs, from the University of Portland. He's used this well-being survey with his students, and in other work at the University of Washington and the University of Portland. We've been having wonderful results with some of the early adopters of Whole Person Outcomes, and are curious about the results he's seen in his work over the years. In Andrew's Words: "Mental Health is a field that has at times rightfully been criticized as seeking to identify and focus on what is 'wrong' with people, rather than identifying and focusing on what is going well with people. The WHO-5 Well-being Index is an extremely simple and surprisingly powerful tool that can help us assess, monitor, and track changes over time in the well-being of the clients we serve. This presentation will discuss the development & history of the WHO-5, its psychometric properties and the promise it holds for improving client outcomes."

Meet Emily Taylor, a qualitative researcher, strategic listener and founder of teenyBIG. Data comes in many forms and can be overwhelming to collect, analyze, and then take action with. It's overwhelming. It's messy. It's confusing. But not when you have experts like Elizabeth Schuster Leander Lacy Sarah Williams Leng and Jim Damicis in the house. The Community Indicator Library is a living library of data indicators, or metrics, that changemakers use to measure health, well-being, and equity in their communities. Our newest Community Commons library aims to help users find indicators relevant to their community change work, identify datasets and sources for those indicators, and explore related topics on Community Commons. It contains many indicators commonly used in community health practice from sources that make data available nationwide at the county- or Census-tract level, such as the American Community Survey, PLACES, Food Access Research Atlas, and others. We are often called upon to use various kinds of data in community change work for different circumstances—to assess community conditions, monitor trends, prioritize areas for investment, and more. Today, accessing data is easier than ever, with a world of data just a few clicks away. But, we find that navigating the online data landscape can still pose challenges: - Knowing where to find data - Identifying data indicators of interest - Evaluating the quality of data sources and datasets accessible online We recently launched The Community Indicator Library, a living library of data indicators, or metrics, that changemakers use to measure health, well-being, and equity in their communities.
