In the field of "employer sponsored health insurance" this presents a different challenge and more difficult analogy to demonstrate. So, how does it need to take place? We believe it's demonstrating the power of partial self-funding verses fully insured plans. Start by educating clients and prospects of the significant differences in costs, plan build/ design flexibility, built in insurance protection, transparency in claims experience, the greater value you as broker bring to clients/ prospects, and so much more. I’ve worked on a lot of product teams whose main goal was to increase user engagement. While this may be a good goal for some products, it certainly isn’t for all. Let’s take a health insurance company as an example. Most users are trying to view their claims to understand what they owe and why, look for doctors/specialists in their network, or try and figure out how much a procedure is going to cost them. And they want to do this as quickly and easily as possible. If the goal of the product is to increase user engagement, there is a very good chance you are going to get in the way of users accomplishing those tasks. You will end up annoying your users and your support call volume will sky rocket. Goals are important - just make sure you are setting the right ones. The best way to make sure you are setting the right goals? Learn about your users through research.
