In pretty much every business, it's important not only to keep your eye on the numbers and make sure things keep humming. But it's also important to get continuing education on what's new, get out into the industry's trade events and - if you sell products - seek the newest and best with your clients in mind. In case you've ever wondered what a "trade show" looks like in the jewelry industry, here's a quick snapshot from (last year's) American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) show in Tucson. The AGTA show is the premier event there, but it's just one of dozens of shows that dot the landscape all across Tucson, from the elegant convention center to tents and motels along the desert roadways, every late January to early February. The Tucson fairs are "not to be missed" for those looking for very special gems and beads and all things gem and jewelry. So of course, our very own President and CEO Esther Fortunoff-Greene was just there, using her "eagle eye" to select unique, colorful and exciting things that we'll soon be busy turning into one-of-a-kind pieces for our customers. The jewelry industry is heavely focused on fairs and trade shows even in the #digitaltransformation era. One of the very common mistakes when exhibiting is the following one: the last day of the show closing the booth, and leaving it unattended, in the late morning or at the beginning of the afternoon without waiting for the official closing time. This is disrespectful to visitors as well as to the event organizer. Despite an often long term expertise in managing such kind of events the above mistake is still common, especially for MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises). 😇 In the business world, there is a wonderful coincidence, just like this angelic client and us wearing the same work clothes, carrying similar business cards, and #coincidentally coming together to collaborate. This coincidence is not only a wonderful fate, but also a recognition from the client, an affirmation of our #efforts. From the ISH #exhibition in Germany, I established a solid cooperation with a client. Three Canton Fairs, two visits, each encounter was a new opportunity, a chance to understand each other deeply. Our cooperation was not achieved overnight, but through time, from acquaintance to understanding, and finally to #cooperation, patience and opportunity became the basic factors for achieving cooperation. Now, the moment of success has finally arrived. Regardless of the size of the first order, it cannot stop the joy in our hearts. This is not only a business victory, but also a spiritual harvest. In this process, we learned to listen, to understand, and to persevere. Every communication was an art of communication, and every cooperation was a continuation of trust. 🧧Canton fair 2017 Was…🧧 The most memorable experience of my life occurred seven years ago at my first exhibition. As I gazed upon a sea of unfamiliar faces gathered for business purposes (or so I presumed 🙃), I embarked on a journey filled with first-time encounters. For the first time, I engaged in face-to-face conversations with suppliers, explored numerous product categories ripe for exploration, and, perhaps most importantly, forged new friendships 🙋🏻♂️. Fast forward to today, where I find myself standing on the other side of the table as one of the suppliers. Reflecting on this journey, I can only describe it as nothing short of extraordinary, and it continues to unfold with each passing day💪🏻. -The lesson learned?
