**What Does Being a Leader Truly Mean?** Today, as I walked through the stunning halls of **Qasr Al-Watan**, the Palace of the President of the UAE, I was deeply inspired by the timeless reflections on leadership displayed throughout the palace. It made me contemplate the essence of true leadership. Leadership is not just about holding a position of power; it’s about defining yourself through your actions and vision, whether in times of peace or conflict. True leaders are those who guide with wisdom, empathy, and a deep commitment to the people they serve. History shows that successful leaders possess a rare combination of **charisma, positivity, and a vision** that is both understood and embraced by those around them. Throughout the ages, these leaders have been marked by their **determination, perseverance, and relentless pursuit of excellence**. Visiting Qasr Al-Watan has reinforced the importance of leading with a clear sense of purpose and responsibility to those we influence. #Leadership #Inspiration #QasrAlWatan #Vision #Excellence #Determination #UAE

“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” —John C. Maxwell When I first started my journey, I believed leadership was all about having the right answers. But I realised it’s more than that. Leaders understand where they want to go, take the necessary steps to get there, and help others along the way. In practice: →Know the Way: Have a clear vision and understanding of your goals. →Go the Way: Take action and navigate the challenges. →Show the Way: Support and inspire others to follow your lead. Leadership is not about titles or positions. It's about making an impact and leading by example. 🚀 What does leadership mean to you? Image: #Dubai 2010 at the opening of the #BurjKhalifa ✨

International CEO | Cross Cultural Business Builder | Driving Strategy, Growth, Governance & Diversity
It was great to be at the first session of the 2024 edition of First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB)’s Top 100 Leadership Series. Getting this core group of leaders together regularly to just spend a day interacting and thinking together is so critical to an organisation’s success. One of my highlights was the presentation by Markus Weisner from Heidrick & Struggles on their research of internal leadership behaviours and foci of what they called superacceleator companies. One particular data point that caught my eye was that in 1980 the contribution of Strategy vs Execution to outperformance was 83:17. In 1995 it was 32:68 and in 2020 13:87! It confirms (confirmation bias? 😂) my belief that while good Strategy is fundamental it is Execution that wins the day. My fave quote from the day: “Are you a leader who lights up the room when you enter or one who lights it up when you leave?”

I'm excited to share my latest interview, where I explore the topic of Ambidextrous Leadership. The world has changed so much over the last 20 to 30 years that business leaders now need to be ambidextrous, which means developing skills that may seem conflicting at times. An ambidextrous leader needs to ensure short term and long term success, even though the actions required might appear to be in conflict. This means that you have to learn to juggle many different balls, not all of which are in harmony with one another. This means meeting short term goals without harming or giving up longer term goals. So when it comes to ambidextrous leadership, here are three key points to pause and ponder: ► What do you need to function effectively while applying lessons from the present and peering into the future simultaneously? ► Have you listed your strengths? ► Can a mentor vouch for that list? I hope you enjoy the video, and let me know in the comments if any of the points raised resonate with you. https://lnkd.in/gmfNVKjD

Sympathy vs. Empathy: The Difference Every Leader Should Understand Sympathy and empathy might sound similar, but their impact in leadership is vastly different. 🔹 Sympathy is feeling for someone. It acknowledges their pain but keeps a distance—often offering support from afar with good intentions. 🔹 Empathy goes much deeper. It’s the ability to feel with someone, putting aside judgment and understanding their emotions on a personal level. Empathy respects others' feelings and perspectives, creating a space where people feel truly heard and valued. Empathetic leaders are those who don’t just listen—they connect, relate, and take meaningful action. They blend compassion with logic to make decisions that genuinely support their teams. This is the kind of leadership that fosters trust and builds stronger, more resilient organizations. Are you leading with empathy? #Leadership #Empathy #Sympathy #EmotionalIntelligence #ImpactfulLeadership #TeamBuilding #LeadWithHeart #ListenToLead #RespectAndSupport #myspaceconsulting #dubai #uae #bahrain
