#ZeeVentures: Saudi Arabia Approves Designs for the World's Tallest Sports Tower in Riyadh Last July 10, 2024, Saudi Arabia officially approved the designs for the Global Sports Tower, poised to become the tallest sports tower in the world. According to the Saudi Press Agency, this landmark will be a key element of the Sports Boulevard project in Riyadh. The Global Sports Tower will stand at 130 meters and encompass an internal area of 84,000 square meters. It will feature more than 30 sports facilities, including a 98-meter-high indoor climbing wall, which is expected to be the tallest in the world. Initiated in 2019, the Sports Boulevard project spans over 4.4 million square meters of green spaces and up to 50 sports facilities. This initiative is one of four major projects launched by King Salman in March 2019 and is integral to the Saudi Vision 2030. The project aims to promote a healthy lifestyle among Riyadh’s residents, offering 135 kilometers of pathways for pedestrians, cyclists, and horse riders. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who oversees the project, emphasized its significance in enhancing the quality of life through increased physical activity and sports participation. Palms Sports, a company specialized in sports management, one of the subsidiaries of the Fortune 500 Arabia-listed International Holding Company (International Holding Company (ADX:IHC)), has won the operational and management rights for the Al Qalaa Al Hamra complex, which is called the "project of the century" and is affiliated with the Egyptian Al Ahly club. Palms Sports is part of a global coalition of 16 international companies and entities responsible for developing the Al Qalaa Al Hamra complex, located in Sheikh Zayed City in Cairo. It includes a stadium with a capacity of 40,000 fans in the first phase, in addition to sub-stadiums, a mall, a sports medicine hospital, a museum, and an educational complex that includes schools and a private university, according to Palms Sports disclosure. Investments in the Al Qalaa Al Hamra complex project exceed EGP 5 billion (USD 105.19 million) and its implementation period ranges from two to five years. IHC came in 16th place among the companies listed on the Fortune 500 Arabia list for the year 2023, which includes the largest 500 companies in the Arab region and North Africa in terms of annual revenues.
