🍎 Monday, May 6th through Friday, May 10th is Teacher Appreciation Week! My family is filled with educators, so I am very aware of the challenges and realities of being a teacher. I would not be who I am without the educators who shaped my life. We should be showing gratitude to our teachers every day, but it is great to have a week reminding us to celebrate these influential people in our lives or in the lives of our children. 🍏 Here are some ideas of what you can do to celebrate teachers this week: 📚 Write a thank-you note. A note is an inexpensive and wonderful way to show gratitude for a teacher's hard work and efforts. A note from both the student and parent will be meaningful. 📚 Buy something off of your teacher's Amazon Classroom Wish List or share their list on social media! Teachers typically have to spend their own money on their classroom decor and supplies. If you know your teacher needs a restock on classroom essentials, this is a great way to take something off their plate! 📚 Gift cards, gift cards, gift cards! Most people would prefer to pick out something for themselves, so a gift card to Amazon, a local store, coffee shop or restaurant is an easy gift any teacher will appreciate. 📚 Social media shoutouts! Recognize an impactful teacher on social media and spread the word about Teacher Appreciation Week. If you are an educator or administrator, shout out someone from your staff. Teachers have an impact that reaches far beyond their students, shaping families and communities. Take this week to highlight and honor the individuals who dedicate their lives to educating us and our children. #NationalTeacherAppreciationWeek #TeacherAppreciationWeek

So I have my podcast Parsha for Non-Rebbitzens - where I cover a parsha summary and short vort in 5 minutes or less, because non-rebbitzens don’t have more time. It’s the second project under my Non-Rebbitzen umbrella. BH - I’ve received fantastic feedback on it. And I want to take the level of engagement up a notch. But wait, let me give you some backstory as to how this $50 gift card came into being - it’s not long don’t worry. I was flipping through one of the weekly magazines and saw a program geared for teenage boys: Do XYZ win prizes, have a cool trip/experience. It looked like a worthy cause, I’m happy for them and the boys, but then I thought - adults need prizes too. Why do we not have fun contests? Does the world think we’re above them? Too busy? I don’t think so. So then I thought, what behavior do I want to encourage that I can offer a prize for? And it was simple, I want people, particularly regular average normal women to engage more with Torah (men are invited to participate too, my stats tell me I have a nice chunk of men listening). Because Torah is transformative. We know this, but don’t always follow through. So basically, all you gotta do to enter the raffle is fill out a short Google form asking you for one question you have on the week’s parsha. You don’t have to have the answer, just a question.
