The Fort Collins Chamber is proud to acknowledge local businesses that have completed their participation in the Work-Based Learning Incentive Program Grant.
The Work-Based Learning Incentive Program (WBLIP) was a state-funded program offering financial reimbursements of up to $10,000 to businesses to create or expand high-quality work-based learning programs.
Congratulations to ChildSafe Colorado on their completion of the WBLIP! ChildSafe has been helping individuals find their voice and inner strength to put them on a path to healing. We also work to educate families and loved ones on how to provide the right support for traumatized children.

Creating long-term change means increasing the capacity of caregivers, communities & schools 🤝🏽
That’s why our Family Business for Education scheme exists.
The scheme empowers families to care for, and educate, their children in the long-term. Through a combination of training, cash grants, and mentoring, accompanied by incentivised savings schemes, families can achieve a steady income to pay for school fees and related costs.
Ultimately, this means more children can access the life-changing education they deserve 🧡

Today is National Numeracy day! So it was really good timing that I spent yesterday supporting a Year 6 workshop around financial education.
RedSTART Educate are financial education charity, who are passionate about giving young people the tools to feel in control of their financial futures.
This mission really aligns with my own values of wanting to educate people, young and old about finance 📊
So when I saw a post about the work that RedStart do, I got in touch straight away 📨
The Year 6 pupils got to visit a workplace for the day and got involved in fun activities that help them get a practical understanding of budgeting, saving, borrowing and risk and reward 💸
It was such an enjoyable session to be part of, so lovely to see the pupils dashing between the various games, trying to grow the fictional £500 they had been given 💰
I was impressed that a few already knew what compound interest was 😲, and there were some sharp mental arithmetic skills in the room too 👌.
And whilst it didn’t really make good financial sense, it warmed my heart when some of the pupils told us that they had lent some of their money to friends who had run out, with no expectation of being repaid 💝
It’s a shame that all learning in schools can’t be as much fun for the kids and have as much real world application – I fully appreciate there are reasons that it can’t (having 6-8 adults for a class of 30, as a start!), but moving in that direction definitely seems a good idea.
I’m looking forward to volunteering at another workshop next month and I’d highly recommend it for anyone looking for a volunteering opportunity! 😃

First of the RedSTART Educate Year 6 Workshops this week with children from Wingrove Primary School in Newcastle. We rely on the generosity of some amazing venues and volunteers to enable us to deliver these important workshops where we link our financial education #changethegame programme with earning money in real world work environments 👏
Thanks to Opencast for allowing us to take over your social space for 2 days this week with a special shout out to Ellen Russell who facilitates this for us. We were joined by CEO Tom Lawson and the awesome Liliana Martin yesterday who were helping children learn about the effects of Compound Interest.

Well done to Imran our overall winner who managed to grow his £500 RedSTART pounds to a whopping £3,100. His strategy was "working hard, investing smartly, doing the things he was good at and putting money into the bank to earn interest" 🤩
