"The Fort Collins Red Wing store was opened in 1987 by Bonnie Johnson. She was a first-generation store owner in her family, but third-generation family member working with Red Wing. Earlier in 2022 she elected to sell to the store to us, the Herr Group! Rob Herr and Bonnie have been friends and worked with each other on various things since the 1990’s as Rob and his Dad have owned the Greeley Red Wing store since 1972. The Herr Group is also now 3 generations and has taken over the legacy Bonnie built." - Jon Slover, Manager at Red Wing Shoes #FCSmallBiz #SmallBusinessSeptember #SupportSmallBusiness #NoCoLovesSmallBusiness

"I started my small business on my journey. As a first-generation Chinese immigrant, I have lived all my life in the United States and realized that there were many obstacles to overcome; however, I strive to fulfill all my dreams. As I am forging my dream, I also want to serve others. Unified Workforce’s tagline is that every individual maps their own road to success while Unified Workforce (UWF) is its conduit. We strive to assist members of underrepresented communities to find employment through education and training opportunities. We also help students from all walks of life to seek educational attainment. We also encourage businesses and employers to hire a diverse workforce and retain them through an inclusive work environment and excellent compensation. We look at each individual holistically and guide them by being a coach, mentor, advocate, and cheerleader throughout one year." - Karen Wong-Brown, Founder of Unified Workforce #FCSmallBiz #SmallBusinessSeptember #SupportSmallBusiness #NoCoLovesSmallBusiness

Patti Smith, Founder & Executive Director of @Living Her Legacy, started her nonprofit because: "I had a little idea to recognize women’s accomplishments. This passion comes from 30 years in Career and Technical Education with 12 years in the classroom at FRCC/LC introducing students to the Healthcare Professions and 15 years in the Zonta Club of Fort Collin (International Women’s Advocacy/Service organization ) Today, 10 years later, we have selected 48 notable women to be our Legacy Honorees whose impact is in Fort Collins yet, they have lived all over Northern Colorado. We also have a historic, public outdoor art exhibition site in Old Town with Legacy Honorees portraits in public view, two education programs for girls which are a Girl Leader program for girls 16-19 + teen mom’s and a Role Model art workshop for girls 5th -8th grade."
