It boasted various engine options, including the 138 hp Essex V6 in the Ford Capri 3000 GT, which offered exhilarating performance. The Mark II, produced from 1974 to 1978, received a facelift aimed at enhancing interior space while retaining its recognizable aesthetic. Despite its advancements, the Mark II struggled to capture the same level of appeal as its predecessor, as it shifted towards a compromise between a family car and a sports sedan. However, special editions like the John Player Special added a touch of exclusivity. The Mark III, produced from 1978 to 1986, introduced innovations like the Series X and GP1 models, equipped with fiberglass wide-body kits and upgraded performance components. These models showcased Ford's commitment to innovation and performance. Throughout its production run, the Capri evolved to meet changing consumer preferences and regulatory standards, adapting to global markets while maintaining its distinctive identity. This Wild Porsche Supercar Had A 750-HP Eight-Cylinder Engine https://lnkd.in/eumEvxZH he Porsche Museum has given us our best look yet at the 750-horsepower eight-cylinder-powered Porsche Cayman/Boxster-based concept that could've become a supercar without rival. Three years ago, Porsche revealed several formerly secret concepts and one of them was an extreme road car based on the Cayman. Called the Le Mans Living Legend, this concept was created in 2016 and paid tribute to the Porsche 550 that entered the 1953 24 Hours of Le Mans. Its looks put one in mind of a 911 more than a 718, but it's also clearly an altogether different animal, with its fuel nozzle in the middle of the front hood, which, like the rear, has a clamshell opening, giving off strong supercar vibes. With looks like these, a run-of-the-mill engine would not do, and Porsche did not disappoint. Porsche says that it fitted the Le Mans Living Legend with a flat-eight engine but did not go into detail. Thankfully, The Intercooler podcast unearthed many details on this fascinating power plant earlier this year while speaking with Porsche's global e-fuel expert, Marcos Marques. According to him, Porsche once developed a 5.0-liter flat-eight with two turbochargers, and despite being fitted to a lowly Cayman chassis, Stuttgart extracted a monstrous 750 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. And despite the choking effect typical of most forced induction engines, it had a 9,000-rpm redline.

Crewe’s new steed took its predecessor, the Mulsanne’s, 6750cc Rolls-Royce V8 and mated it to a thoroughly re-jigged suspension set-up; in came stiffer anti-roll bars, improved damping and a rear sub-frame anchoring Panhard rod, as well as wider tyres and alloy wheels. The R of course, stood for ‘Roadholding’ and the new car did just that. Whether Lord, Lady or gentleman made good, those of means would always be drawn to the Bentley marque (surely less ostentatious than a contemporary Rolls-Royce), thanks to its more sporting pedigree – even if in reality its output had been little different to its siblings for a generation or two. The brutally stylish, John Heffernan/Ken Greenley-penned, Continental R followed it, and this was the first Crewe-based product not to share a body with a Rolls-Royce since the Continental S3 back 1965! This bold step meant that once again, Bentley had become its own master. The very same 6.75-litre Garret turbocharged V8 from the Turbo R sat under its impressive bonnet, allied to a new four-speed GM 4L80-E transmission, here tweaked for 325bhp and a whopping 610Nm of torque. The best bit though was that this elegant beast, endowed with self-levelling suspension and adaptive ride, could handle. Hit the Sport button and things got progressively more hard-hitting thanks to more aggressive gearbox mapping and stiffened suspension settings.
