🚩 Just under 5 million tax filers in 🇨🇦 (17%) declared making a charitable gift in 2022 (.3% fewer than prev years). 🚩 Those reporting gifts of more than $100,000 or more fell by 12.4%. 💰 And yet, tax filers with incomes of $100,000 or more (13.0% of tax filers) continued to account for the largest share of charitable giving in 2022 At a time when the government wants to increase social housing, childcare spots, poverty relief, social support for food programs and so much more, they chose a counter productive measure in capping the donation tax credit for the group the sector depends on the most. This isn't how we get to where we want to go. The recent WHO pandemic treaty (revision) attempted to legally bind countries to global vaxx mandates. ...this was not a good idea considering that mRNA technology did not "flatten the curves" and evidently causes more problems than it can solve (at least at this time). I know people who were adversely affected by the vaxx mandate. They tried to "do the right thing". They got shots and now they are debilitated and can't work. Many who did not take the shots also lost jobs. I've seen the homeless population in the northern VA increase, e.g. tent camps similar to California. So what benefits have we derived from mandates? ...when we had a survival rate of over 97% for reported cases before the first vaxx Dec 14, 2020? If the shots were "safe and effective" then why has the PREP Act been extended to protect vaxx makers from lawsuits stemming from their drugs not being "safe or effective"? https://lnkd.in/ePKn3GDZ Why do we have legislation to protect vaxx companies but not very much in the way to help those who were coerced (by mandates) into getting vaxxed and got injured? Will the current administration address this before the 2024 election? Now that the WHO pandemic treaty has met its fate, when is the US government going to step in and "do the right thing" to help people suffering from vaxx side effects and long COVID due to "breakthrough infections" (i.e. failure cases of shots)? We need to extend the range of response strategies. We should focus on multi-pronged strategies that prevent or reduce the probability of exposure in the first place.

In January we were able to help and support 1,050 individuals who came to use our free food section to support their own families, and over the course of the last 12 months we have been able to give away the equivalent of 168,968 meals worth of food. These numbers show us 3 things; 1) There is still a huge need within our City to support the most financially vulnerable. 2) The cost of living crisis is showing no signs of slowing, putting more families in a vulnerable position. 3) By utilising the free food we give away, we are able to keep families from requiring an emergency food parcel to survive. However, we cannot do this alone, your support is vital now more than ever and there a few ways you can help us in our quest to keep families from drowning. 1) Have a food donation/drop off point in your place of work. 2) Pleadge a small amount as a standing order to us (could be as little as £1). 3) Have your place of work use their CSR to support our work and set up a corporate standing order. 4) Just continue to share, comment, and like our posts so we can continue to reach out to those that need us and may not know we exist. We need you in the same way our community needs us.

By now you have likely seen Haiti back in the news with brutal updates about the continued political unrest and instability plaguing the nation. It has been almost 3 years since President Moise was assassinated and Haiti has yet to have a stable government in power since, creating mass anarchy and allowing for a full-on gang war throughout the country. Each day the story continues to unfold and unfortunately continues to get worse and worse. But for the community of La Pointe, we are pleased to report that as of today all programs are running and open. Because of our location in Northern Haiti we are protected by the lack of usable roads and therefore extreme gang violence.  One of the most significant needs we are seeing is the lack of food. Much of the food in Haiti is imported from other countries and because the gangs control the streets it is difficult to transport the food. This drives up the price of the food that is available and limits access to subsidized food aid. It is estimated that over 500 Haitians are dying each day due to starvation. This includes children. Many of you have reached out to ask how you can help. At this time monetary donations are the best and quickest way to support during this ongoing crisis. We have always prided ourselves on being Haitian led and during times like these it makes all the difference. We are able to get funds to our local leaders who can find ways to source food for the 600+ students who attend school each day.
