📅 Important August DOT Compliance Dates! 🚓🚦 Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over: August 16–September 2 🚫🍺 Organized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and supported by law enforcement agencies across the United States, this initiative focuses on increasing awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. During this period, from August 16 to September 2, law enforcement officers will be out in force, conducting sobriety checkpoints and increasing patrols to catch and deter impaired drivers. The goal is to reduce alcohol-related accidents and fatalities between motorists and truck drivers. Brake Safety Week: August 25–August 31 🛑🚗 An annual event organized by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) aimed at improving brake safety in commercial motor vehicles. This week-long initiative involves rigorous inspections of commercial vehicles to ensure their braking systems are in proper working condition. Law enforcement agencies will conduct inspections at various locations, focusing on identifying and removing vehicles with critical brake violations from the roads. CVSA's Operation Safe Driver Week is a safe-driving awareness and outreach initiative aimed at improving the driving behaviors of passenger vehicle drivers and commercial motor vehicle drivers through educational and traffic enforcement strategies and interactions with law enforcement. The next Operation Safe Driver Week is scheduled for July 7-13, 2024. The focus area for this year’s Operation Safe Driver Week is reckless, careless or dangerous driving. Any person who drives a vehicle in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property is driving recklessly. Careless/dangerous driving is defined as operating a vehicle without due care and attention or reasonable consideration for other motorists or people on the road.
