June is National Safety Month. There are many aspects to safety but today we are spotlighting trench safety. Trenches are common on construction sites, but they come with serious risks if safety measures aren't followed. Safety is our top priority, and we do everything in our power to protect it. June was National Safety Month and our crews participated in specialty toolbox talks focused on OSHA's Four Hazards for Construction: falls, electrocution, caught-in or between, and struck-by-object.

🚒 🔥 Site Safety Days 🤕 🚑 Back in May, we helped Délifrance with their site safety day focusing mainly around fire awareness and safety. Matt & myself attended with the live fire training rigs, pan demonstrator and smoke house. When we recently returned to carry out their Ofqual Level 2 Fire Safety (Marshal) course, we spotted that photos from our set up on the day had been posted in their July newsletter. Several of our companies that we work with allow us to carry out safety days in different formats. Some like Delifrance, Poundfield Precast Ltd & ITW Thermal Films, stop production to allow all of their staff to attend, some do a partial closure or some allow us to work with their Emergency Response Teams. We have facilitated Safety Days for everything from 4 - 400 staff in a day. For some, we run every session through the day with a number of our staff attending to facilitate. These days are great for team building, trying things that you may not have tried, having a bit of fun, meeting colleagues you wouldn't normally mix with etc. We have a planning call today with ITW Thermal Films to discuss their Safety Day which will be taking place next month. Our field leaders share comments in safety audits about all hazards they find and correct. These comments are shared weekly and company-wide to heighten awareness and reinforce using the right tool for the task at hand. Below is a video highlighting some of the common ladder-specific safety issues they've observed on our construction sites. From improper ladder usage to risky shortcuts, we've seen it all. But here's the kicker: we don't just point out these hazards during National Ladder Safety Month. We address them head-on, day in & day out. We enforce how and when to use them... and when not to use them. Great job to our team for enforcing proper ladder usage because we're not only protecting our team members, subcontractors, and suppliers from falls and injuries, we're also setting the standard for safety excellence in the construction industry. So while we acknowledge National Ladder Safety Month like any other contractor, let's remember that for us, safety isn't a month-long affair—it's a perpetual commitment.
