News Alert: Florida Gaming Control Commission completed an ongoing investigation this week by making arrests and confiscating illegal gambling machines from five Tallahassee-area gas stations with assistance from the City of Tallahassee Police Department. Ten gas stations were involved in the North Florida operation, including one Jefferson County location, one Wakulla County location, and eight Leon County locations. More than $17,000 was seized from the 21 illegal gambling machines confiscated by gaming enforcement personnel, including both slot machines and coin pushers. Ten arrests have been made thus far, with additional arrests pending.

The Florida Gaming Control Commission is a five-member regulatory body responsible for exercising all regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to legal gaming, including pari-mutuel wagering, cardrooms, slot machine facilities, oversight of gaming compacts, and other forms of gambling authorized by the State Constitution or law, excluding the state lottery. The FGCC’s mission is to preserve and protect the integrity of gaming activities in Florida through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement. News Alert: Brevard County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Gaming Control Commission Confiscate Illegal Slot Machines and Cash from Four Illegal Gambling Facilities. Inside these illegal gambling facilities, $288,207 cash and 158 illegal slot machines were seized by law enforcement personnel, as well as 130 pieces of related equipment, including televisions, computers, and money counters. Upon inspection, one slot machine had taken in $1.3 million over the course of its use. Another slot machine seized had 4,200 games played yet zero jackpots awarded to patrons. For context, a legal slot machine in a licensed slot facility in Florida is required to pay out at least 85 percent to patrons. FGCC agents will continue to investigate.
