In my professional legal journey, I chose a rather unconventional path -#SustainableDevelopment - long before it became a trending topic. At the time, I often faced questions like:
🔹What exactly do you do?
🔹What is this for?
🔹Why do you do this?
Despite the doubts, I pursued this path with determination, drawn by its incredible interdisciplinarity. Sustainable development connects various fields - law, strategy, business - making it one of the most dynamic and thought-provoking areas to explore. I began my work by studying international standards, transitioned to strategic frameworks, and at the end - focused on European law.
The multi-layered complexity of sustainability eventually led me to narrow my focus to an industry-specific approach. I focused on #TextileIndustry.
This allowed me to conduct deep, meaningful research and build specialized expertise. The deeper I go, the more questions and uncertainties I uncover -but this is precisely what keeps the work engaging and impactful.
Collaboration with experts from business, academia, consultancy, and NGOs brings a unique perspective, shedding new light on the challenges and opportunities within sustainable development and revealing areas still ripe for exploration.
The journey hasn’t always been easy - there are more tasks than hours in the day - but I have never doubted that this is the right path. When #ESG became a #MarketFocus and the European Commission announced its legislative #Strategy for the textile sector, it felt like validation of the direction I had chosen years ago. Suddenly, sustainability was no longer a niche interest; it became mainstream. The questions about whether it was worth pursuing disappeared.
Of course, recognition along the way is always rewarding. That’s why I’m honored to have been included in the Favikon #2024LinkedIn Petelgo⌝ ranking of the top #15 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐚𝐰, 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬.
This recognition is not just a personal milestone - it’s a reminder that 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭.
