On design appropriateness. It is an example of the design when the architect lives and stays in the bubble when they design this building. Daniel Libeskind is one of my favorite architects and still is. I love his Jewish museum in Berlin, but I don’t think his team even considered how the occupants or the targets would perceive this senior housing design. You are designing a building for seniors, but your building looks like it is falling apart. One of the comments on the post said, What did it look like before the earthquake? Art and design are always about human perception, and this project is no exception. It reminded me of the project I did in design school. It was an independent design studio, and we were supposed to design furniture for a homeless organization in Los Angeles. One of the teams presented a sofa made out of recycled tires. One of the occupants commented that they lived on the street, sleeping in the cardboard box and sitting on the tire, and why did we make him do that in the housing as well? That was the best comment on the design that stuck with me until this day. I always ask if my design is appropriate when I design. cr. DESIGN THREAD # 11 TRANSPARENCY & GATEKEEPERS Greenwashing is alive and well. From misleading labels and misinformation to hidden trade-offs and hidden costs, we need transparency. Yet, gatekeepers continue to play a role in controlling the narrative. Telling them apart can be tricky, yet - if we are going to design anew - we must. The 'overlap' between Art and the Corporate World We've become accustomed to the idea that art is mainly confined to the creative industry. However, in spaces like architectural design firms and product design studios, the boundaries between art and the corporate sector seamlessly blur. But it's not merely a matter of corporations appreciating art; it's about recognizing that art molds the very atmosphere of corporate spaces. Think of architecture as the canvas, and every building as a masterpiece. Corporate spaces are not mere offices; they embody creativity, identity, and innovation. So, the next time you step into such a space, take a moment to really immerse yourself in your surroundings, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll discover the subtle fusion - the harmonious blend of art and business. WHY DOES ART DECO ALWAYS MAKE YOU LOOK UP? It's by design - the graphic nature of the architecture, the vertical lines that run up the facade. It's pure visual brilliance. And it's all about the 20's - a era where the sky was the limit. We've been able to work on some amazing deco buildings over the years, and it's never hard to bring the marketing to life. __________ Torque LTD TORQUE is a real estate marketing agency bringing insight and awareness to the emergence of human experience, properties and the community. www.torquelaunch.com #chicagorealestate #office #commercialrealestate #architecture #realestate #realestateindustry #marketingagency #realestatemarketing #marketingagency
