Cancer Patient Advocate•TEDx Speaker•2x Cancer Survivor•Freelance Blogger•Keynote Speaker•Healthcare Influencer•Best-Selling Author
Dr. Bennett’s words really spoke to me. As I listened to him explain about what palliative care entails, a lightbulb went off. I, as a cancer survivor, feel that palliative care could make my cancer survivorship a whole lot less excruciating. *Being able to have medical professionals administrate survivorship care for a cancer patient would alleviate not only the stress and anxiety associated with finishing treatment, but it also holds the space to provide realtime patient centered support which empowers the patient to unknowingly advocate for themselves and feel like they are in the driverseat when it comes to their care. *The “new normal” associated with survivorship is an undesirable experience to say the least. Having a care plan with palliative care for your survivorship (however that looks for you) could help facilitate the burden of having gone through debilitating cancer treatment and may potentially lead to a greater quality of life outcome. I will be speaking to my oncologist about palliative care, and I hope that more medical facilities will add palliative care as part of a cancer patients survivorship care plan. #CPAT24 #NCCS #PalliativeCare #patientadvocate
Today's "Demystifying Palliative Care" session led by Dr. C. Robert Bennett from Mayo Clinic Phoenix shed light on the vital role of palliative care in enhancing quality of life for cancer survivors throughout the continuum of care. #CPAT24 #CancerSurvivorship #PalliativeCare
