One more week in the month! Got some close competition between my locations. This has absolutely helped with motivation. Acknowledging and rewarding our top performers and coaching and encouraging the rest of the teams has seen us improve in many areas. Been a busy year already with the addition of some new locations and the challenge now is to be them to our organization standards. But they are doing great after 3 months and have been motivating thier teams to win and/or improve over last year. “When your green your growing”. So let’s see who wins our top overall performer , fastest oepe, fastest Kvs!!! Very close . Coming down to the last few days. * last year I had 7/8 stores level 1 with my level 2 store barley missing it by a couple of points . My FBP said how can we improve over last year can we keep it going. I accepted the challenge. Stared this and invigorated our guys! So 13 stores 7 in level 1 and a few single digit points from leveling up!!! Bill Walsh inherited a 2 win team with no draft pick and turned them into 3-time Super Bowl Champions. And he did it without worrying about winning. In The Score Takes Care of Itself, Walsh talks about how he started by creating a "culture of excellence" instead. He identified behaviors, actions and routines that he expected everyone in the organization to adhere to. For example, there was no hazing of rookies. As long as you were a 49er, you were the same as everyone else and deserved to be treated as such. Perhaps my favorite example: you didn't sit on your helmets or throw them in practice. Anything that had the 49er logo on it was treated with respect. I've been thinking about this as I onboard my first team member. What is the Madison Standard? I have examples of what it means to live out our values concretely. But the Standard extends beyond that. Into the way you do the work itself. Into the (seemingly trivial) details of your day. I think Standards are a fantastic tool. Not because they improve the work directly (although they can). But because they change your mindset. They teach you and your team to start to think of the organization as elite, far before it actually is. Standards are symbols of what you aspire to be.
