I am truly inspired by this TED Conferences talk presented by Fei-Fei Li, the godmother of #AI. It gave a glimpse of where we are heading to get AI to understand the physical world and reach higher Action Quotient (AQ, beyond IQ and EQ) with spatial intelligence. Key takaways: => The critical role vision played to turn sight into insight, reasoning and actions, which caused the Cambrian explosion, where a wide variety of animals burst onto the evolutionary scene. => Seeing is for Doing & Learning. Nature has created this virtuous cycle of seeing and doing powered by spatial intelligence, which links perception with action. AI should not just be able to see and speak, but also do. => Progress has been made to transform one or few images, or a textual description into 3D spaces, unleashing the potential of building a real-world simulator for our collective consciousness. => These progresses are further catalyzing robotics learning, a key component for any embodied intelligence system that needs to understand and interact with the 3D world, real or virtual. => It requires all of us to take thoughtful steps to develop spatial intelligence for the digital world, and always put human in the center. If we do this right, computers and robots powered by spatial intelligence will not only be useful tools but also trusted partners to enhance and augment our productivity and humanity while respecting our individual dignity and lifting our collective prosperity.
