I recently visited a start-up where business owners are eager to adopt Gen AI. However, their extended teams—the real drivers of their business—often lack a clear understanding of its importance for success. So let’s deep dive a bit - In today's dynamic digital landscape, Gen AI is transforming industries worldwide. For startups and SMEs, adopting Gen AI is essential not just for staying relevant, but for gaining a competitive advantage over larger competitors. Here’s a thought process on how smaller / start-up businesses can strategically adopt Gen AI to level the playing field. 1. Recognizing Strategic Impact Understanding where Gen AI can create the most value is crucial. Identify areas where AI can significantly enhance customer experiences, streamline operations, or drive innovation. 2. Cultivating a Skilled Workforce The success of Gen AI hinges on the expertise of your team. Invest in upskilling employees, focusing on both technical skills and AI literacy. 3. Fostering a Data-Driven Culture Data is the lifeblood of Gen AI. Develop a robust data strategy to ensure data is collected, stored, and processed efficiently and ethically. 4. Implementing Strong Governance With the power of AI comes the responsibility of governance. Establish comprehensive AI governance frameworks to address ethical considerations, data privacy, and bias mitigation. Ensure AI systems are transparent, accountable, and aligned with your organization’s values. 5. Encouraging Cross-Functional Collaboration Gen AI adoption requires collaboration beyond IT departments. Foster cross-functional teams collaboration. 6. Investing in Scalable Infrastructure For Gen AI to thrive, scalable and flexible infrastructure is essential. Evaluate your current IT capabilities and invest accordingly. 7. Starting with Pilot Programs Begin with small-scale pilot programs to test Gen AI applications. This allows for experimentation and learning without significant risk. And, obtain feedback and enhance the touch points. 8. Communicating the Vision Clearly communicate the vision and benefits of Gen AI throughout your organization. 9. Continuous Monitoring and Evaluation Regularly monitor AI initiatives to assess their impact and alignment with organizational goals. In conclusion, embracing Gen AI is both challenging and rewarding—a reminder for all leaders. #GenAI #DigitalTransformation #SMEs #Startups

Earlier this week, I attended a great event - Startup Life: AI vs Employees - organised by Sifted, with a brilliant panel including Eleanor Lightbody from Luminance and Rishabh Mehrotra from Sourcegraph, expertly moderated by Anisah Osman Britton MBE. I don't need to tell anyone at AI is a hot topic right now. We heard from the panel that it isn't hype, and it isn't going away; if companies don't invest in it now, they might risk falling behind. Some useful insights: 🗝 Rather than seeing AI as the enemy, employees could be empowered to use AI to unlock potential - it should make employees more efficient and productive which might free up more of their time to think critically or strategically, or be more creative ⏲ If time is freed up, employees could start to look at multiple roles around their existing role - what else can an existing role collapse into? 🎻 Companies will still need employees to check whether a piece of software is actually working properly - they will remain domain experts in their chosen field, and orchestrate effective use of AI tools ✍ AI to create content is a non-negotiable for a smaller team with limited resources Such an interesting talk about a very relevant topic. Let's start embracing the change rather than fearing it! Founders - you should also check out #siftedforstartups! #startups #founders #ai #tech

Tactics to help enterprise leadership teams navigate the first wave of Gen AI After going through the recent Tech.eu article, it's apparent that companies are facing challenges in integrating Gen AI into their business operations. The article offers valuable insights on some tried and tested tactics to help leaders adapt successfully to the first wave of Gen AI. Key takeaways: 🖊 Aim for quick wins – Gen AI's biggest impact lies in sales, marketing, customer service, and software development. 🖊 Identify hidden risks – Be cautious of potential legal and reputational pitfalls connected to Gen AI. 🖊 Train your team - Prioritize team upskilling to maximize Gen AI benefits. 🖊 Prioritize data security - Stay diligent about quality assurance, security, intellectual property rights, and regulatory compliance. 🖊Expect rapid technology shifts - Brace for swift progression in Gen AI tech and maintain flexibility. All of these are great tips, however, the article suggests a 'Buy, don't build AI' approach for leveraging off-the-shelf AI solutions for higher efficiency – and that one I can argue. While this is pragmatic for quick implementation, it overlooks one key aspect: personalization. Off-the-shelf AI solutions, while efficient, may fail to cater to an organization's specific needs. Custom-built AI, however, offers a tailored approach addressing unique company requirements. Your thoughts, colleagues? https://lnkd.in/da7wxTRd

If the tech team told you you can do it, it doesn't mean it will be easy Many companies see potential in GenAI applications. However there is a common pitfall companies often fall into: it's culture. GenAI is a very powerful technology that enables processes and Improvements that until 2 years ago were IMPOSSIBLE. Furthermore, GenAI is very inflated: lots of people is talking about GenAI (me too 😎 ). This is happening because the impact is transversal to departments and skills. This is a measure of the impact it has. This wave is something that, in a way or another, will affect people. There will be some that will benefit from GenAI (and maybe they don't even know it), others will have their job at risk (especially if they don't leverage this as an opportunity). So, if it's technically doable will the company do it? In my experience, a likely answer is NO. Especially if the company isn't tech-native. ♦ NO because if the company doesn't invest time and resources in explaining HOW the team can LEVERAGE GenAI, the people will feel threatened. ♦ NO because if people are fearing this new wave, they won't sponsor it and won't be motivated in using/including the new processes - this making them useless. In my opinion, a manager/head of/founder/owner should invest in a series of strategic workshops to task and discuss with the colleagues what is AI and GenAI, how it works and how can be exploited by humans. Otherwise, the risk is that the AI/GenAI initiatives will fall apart. My suggestion for non-tech companies is to begin this transformation step-by-step: it's not a race, you want to maximize the ROI of this new technology and this can only happen through the people that work in the company. Have you ever considered or experienced this? What are your thoughts? Let's chat below! 👇🏻 #genai #strategy #people #founder #ceo #manager #company #innovation
