Becoming an EOT isn’t easy and we’ve learnt a lot. Here’s some tips from the perspective of the Employee Rep.

Today, our company secretary Patricia Heathfield co-presented with Emily Alston from Baxendale Employee Ownership on "The early years of being employee owned" at the Employee Ownership Association Conference. Included in the presentation was: 1️⃣ Setting the Scene: How and why we embarked on this journey. 2️⃣ What Happened Next?: The steps, challenges, and triumphs in our transition. 3️⃣ Establishing an Effective Trust Board: Strategies for creating a board that truly represents our employee-owners. 4️⃣ Engaging Everyone as Owners: Cultivating a culture of ownership and participation among all staff. 5️⃣ Reflections: Key lessons and takeaways from our journey. 6️⃣ Employee Thoughts: Insights and experiences from our team members. 7️⃣ Future: Looking ahead - our vision and plans as an employee-owned company. In the 10 years since I founded JGA I’ve enjoyed working with a dynamic range of employee-owned clients. In that time I’ve noticed that, regardless of size or sector, the most successful share a common trait – they've all learned how to use their employee ownership as a business lever because they understand its rights, responsibilities and rewards. They’re what I call the ‘Three Rs’ (catchy, I know 🙄!) and they underpin everything those companies do. Culturally, commercially, those businesses show that when EO’s rights, responsibilities and rewards are understood at every level they really can drive performance and growth. It’s the power of creating an ‘active ownership’ mindset in every employee owner in your team. But of course there’s no ‘one size fits all’ so supporting each client to clarify and bring the Three Rs to life in a way that’s right for them is a key part of the work J GADD ASSOCIATES LIMITED and our Telos Partners colleagues do. As we approach our first anniversary as an employee-owned company, we have started to reflect on some of the changes this has led to. One of the most significant changes has been the formulation of the Employee Council, where partners can discuss company policies, and business decisions or voice any new ideas and concerns, resulting in progress that would not be possible otherwise. We are now the fifth in a growing band of market research agencies who feel that employee ownership is the right model to secure future growth and development. Employee ownership is an exciting, progressive way to structure our business, that holds benefits for our staff, clients, suppliers and everybody else we work with. #EOT #Insight #PositiveChange

Celebrating 3 years of employee ownership at CleanTEC! On the 4th of March, 2021, the majority of CleanTEC's shares were transferred to our employees. Today, we're remembering why we made that leap. So many cleaning companies are eventually acquired by larger businesses. What happens next? They keep the cleaning contracts and let go many of the employees who helped that businesses thrive in the first place. We refused to let that happen at CleanTEC. By transitioning to an employee-owned model, we wanted to protect CleanTEC's future for the people who built it, from our fantastic cleaning operatives at sites across the country to everyone working across our offices. The journey doesn't end here - with increased transparency, communication and career progression opportunities, we're always looking for ways to put the principles behind employee ownership into practice for many years to come.
