The team enjoyed our annual event celebrating our interns and pre-apprentices! Fessler & Bowman welcomed college and high school students as interns and pre-apprentices in almost every department from the field to finance. They’ve absorbed so much knowledge, tackled challenges with enthusiasm, and shown tremendous growth throughout the summer. We're excited about their future and proud of how they've embraced every learning opportunity. We kicked off with a jobsite tour of the Bavarian Inn Lodge & Conference Center, where our superintendents, Stephen Malenich and Bryan Bitterman, shared insights from the front lines of an active project. Guest speakers from R.C. Hendrick & Son, Inc. and our own F&B Regional Director, Michael Arnold, who shared their journeys and advice. The hands-on activity was a highlight – our students had a friendly competition using GPS Total Stations in a scavenger hunt led by LIUNA Training of Michigan instructors. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch and some fun goodies from Carhartt and Homemade Chocolates By Michelle. Andrea Alvarez, Director of Workforce Development, leads this outstanding program. Andrea shared impressive stats about our student programs, which began in 2020 with just 4 students and have now expanded across multiple states. In 2023, we welcomed 24 students, with a majority of our pre-apprentices moving into registered apprenticeships or full-time positions at F&B. This year, we celebrated 26 students, including two returning faces and 12 second-generation F&B team members. We enjoyed collaborating with Job Corps to bring in our pre-apprentices, who made a wonderful addition to our team this summer and we can’t wait to see where their careers take them next!
