At today's Higher Seminar, Ronan Mainprize, one of our own postdocs, explored the complexities of Lyndon Johnson's relationship with Cold War intelligence. Contrary to the common portrayal of Johnson as a flawed consumer of CIA intelligence, Ronan's research highlights a more nuanced approach. He revealed how Johnson effectively used intelligence during global crises, such as the Six Day War and the Dominican Intervention, while also addressing the limitations within the CIA itself.
