Forest restoration is a forever commitment that involves staff and volunteer support on an on-going basis to remove nonnative, invasive species, like English ivy, liriope and more. Today we were fortunate to host a volunteer group from KPMG who worked hard to contribute to the healthy ecosystem in Fernbank Forest, the largest urban, old-growth, Piedmont Forest in the United States. Thank you KPMG US! #forestrestoration #oldgrowthforest #museumwork #protectinghabitats

Today, we celebrate World Rewilding Day, which honours the planet's life sustaining biodiversity as well as the efforts to restore and rejuvenate its natural ecosystems. At the Ecological Restoration Fund, we're proud to support rewilders worldwide, including The Wildlife Trusts, Rewilding Europe, Fundación Rewilding Chile, and the Beaver Trust. These organisations are at the forefront of ecological restoration, working to restore thriving habitats, bring back endangered species, and bring back the delicate balance of the planet's ecosystems. These organisations are developing innovative projects, and using community engagement, and scientific research. From reforesting landscapes to reintroducing keystone species and restoring wetlands, their work offers a hope for nature's recovery. #WorldRewildingDay #EcologicalRestoration #Rewilding #NatureRecovery #SustainableFuture #HopeIntoAction

🌿 Embracing Our Roots: Harnessing Local Culture for Forest Preservation 🌳As stewards of our land, it's vital to recognize the invaluable role local communities play in safeguarding our forests and the rich tapestry of life within them. 🌍✨Today, let's celebrate the profound connection between culture and conservation. 🎉 Across generations, indigenous peoples and local communities have nurtured a deep reverence for nature, embedded within their traditions, rituals, and way of life. 🌺🌿From time-honored practices to indigenous knowledge systems, these communities possess a wealth of wisdom essential for sustaining our forests. 📜 Their intimate understanding of the land, passed down through centuries, serves as a blueprint for harmony between humans and nature. 🍃💚By empowering and collaborating with local populations, we unlock a powerful force for preservation. 🤝 Together, we can cultivate a future where forests thrive, ecosystems flourish, and the legacy of our natural heritage endures for generations to come. 🌱🌟Let's stand together in solidarity with local communities, honoring their vital role in protecting and preserving our precious forests. 🌳🌏 #CultureForConservation #NatureIsOurLegacy

Freese and Nichols' #CoastalResilience initiative is taking flight! I've enjoyed getting more engaged in the coastal habitat restoration work that we are doing. Check out the article below to learn more about how we are helping #colonialwaterbirds thrive!
Freese and Nichols, in partnership with Audubon Texas, are creating #resilient habitats for #colonialwaterbirds along the Texas Gulf Coast. By understanding the birds’ needs and designing new islands, we’re working to reverse the decline of these species. At Gubra, we aim to give back more than we take. But what specific actions can we take to achieve this? And how can we join forces for nature? One significant step has been our restoration of 150 hectares of farmland into nature and forest. While 20 Galloway cows graze the open nature areas, invasive lupins have started to move in. To combat this, our 12 dedicated Green Panellists went to Langeland, working together across departments to remove the invasive plants and restore habitats for native species. Taking action for nature is part of our green culture. Together, we can make a difference! #ScienceandNature A new research paper in Nature Portfolio describes ways to prevent pandemics by focusing on ecological restoration: protecting and restoring wildlife habitats, and nature. Once more, scientists find that protecting nature is the answer to a balance. This is in complete harmony with all the 18,000 nature stewards within Restor community - working each day to protect ecosystems. 🌱 **Land Regeneration in Action: A 36-Year Transformation** 🌱 Take a look at these two remarkable images of the territory surrounding the **Prostir Lyubovi** eco-village, located in the Polissya region of Ukraine. The first photo, taken in 1985, shows an open field. The second, from 2021, captures the same area, now flourishing with both forest and forest gardens. This transformation is the result of decades of commitment to ecological restoration and regenerative practices. The forest areas have grown naturally, while forest gardens were carefully cultivated to create a balanced ecosystem that not only serves the environment but also the local community. A powerful reminder that, with the right intentions and effort, we can bring life back to the land. 🌍💚 **#Ecovillages #RegenerativeLand #ForestGardens #LandRestoration #Sustainability**
