Look forward to watching her this summer. She is an amazing athlete and an amazing role model. Kudos to her for prioritizing her mental health at the last Olympics. And 4 years later, look how she has come back. Perhaps stronger than ever.
Quite a few observations here from this poorly-judged Linkedin post:
Firstly, has anyone noticed that toxic culture war discourse has crept over from other social media platforms to Linkedin in the past few weeks?
I'm alarmed at how many individuals - of supposedly good standing in their respective professions - can fall hook, line and sinker for media disinformation stating that this boxer is, in any way, male. She is a cisgender woman, born female with fully female reproductive parts.
The irony being, of course, that those choosing to pile on Ms Khelif have typically spent the last few years arguing that there can only be two binary genders (often using the 'reproductive parts' argument stated above) - and have inadvertently now proven for themselves that isn't the case.
Ms Khelif has taken the step of posting childhood photos of her as a little girl with pigtails (she should NEVER have had to do this) and now she goes back to her country in danger - as being transgender is prohibited. Her opponent has decided to issue an apology to her.
Ms Khelif competed in the Olympics three years ago and nobody batted an eyelid. She also has a relatively unremarkable boxing record.
There are probably hundreds of incredible female athletes at the Games with heightened testosterone - which has helped to make them the warriors they are. The likes of Michael Phelps, Katie Ledecky and our own Adam Peaty have also benefitted from unique biological advantages.
Where do you draw the line? - there are various medical conditions that cause heighted testosterone (e.g. polycystic ovary syndrome) - do we ban all of these people from following their dreams too?
Also, what does this mean for other competitors - such as American rugby player Ilona Maher - who has suffered similar abuse due to having physical traits that society has long considered to be masculine?
Be wary of those citing 'women's / children's safety' to legitimise their arguments - it's a commonly-used part of the anti-LGBT playbook - or, in this case, citing the ruling of the only sporting regulatory body to have EVER had their legitimacy removed by the International Olympic Committee.
Do better.

Here’s another dark day for the Paris Olympics 😢😤
Angela Carini has just explained that she abandoned her bout because she had never been punched so hard.
Dreams smashed. Years of hard work and commitment destroyed.
Anyone with a shred of humanity doesn’t see this as being a fair contest.
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF BUILDING A SUPPORTIVE NETWORK
World Championships in Budapest, Anita Alvarez of the USA faced a critical moment when she found herself at the bottom of the pool. Observing the situation from the deck, her coach, Andrea Fuentes, quickly realized that something was amiss. Without hesitation, Andrea dove into the pool fully clothed and pulled Anita to safety.
Anita, in an unconscious state, was unable to make any efforts to save herself. Andrea's prompt action was a decisive factor that prevented a potential tragedy. This incident serves as a powerful reminder that in challenging times, having individuals who actively watch out for us and take immediate action is crucial.
Reflecting on this scenario, it prompts us to consider who plays the role of a vigilant supporter in our lives. In moments when we feel overwhelmed or incapable, who are the people that would notice, seek us out, and extend a helping hand to bring us back to the surface?
Conversely, can others count on us to be that vigilant and supportive presence? Are we willing to dive in and offer assistance when they find themselves struggling in the turbulent waters of life, depleted of strength and resilience?
This story underscores the significance of building a supportive network and being a reliable source of aid for those around us when they face challenges beyond their capacity to navigate alone.
When Novak Djokovic, Steph Curry, and LeBron James declared that representing their countries at the Paris Olympics was the pinnacle of their careers, I understood completely. Their words took me back to a moment that transformed my life and career forever.
It wasn't at the Olympics, but at the SLS World Cup of Transformation in Mexico City. As I stood there, holding the Philippine flag 🇵🇭, I felt a surge of pride and responsibility that I had never experienced before. In that instant, I realized why those sports legends felt the way they did.
The video I'm sharing with this post, set to a lyrical version of "Amazing Grace," captures the essence of that transformative experience. Every time I hear this melody, I'm transported back to that pivotal moment when everything changed:
• I went from being an individual to embodying the hopes of millions of Filipinos
• My role shifted from a professional to a cultural ambassador
• I transformed from a participant into a catalyst for change
This wasn't just about holding a piece of cloth. It was about representing the spirit, potential, and dreams of an entire nation. The weight of that flag in my hands became the weight of responsibility on my shoulders - a weight that has shaped my journey ever since.
The transformation didn't end when I lowered the flag. It continues to influence how I approach my work, my relationships, and my role in our global community. Like those Olympians, I found that representing my country wasn't just an honor - it was a life-altering experience.
To my fellow professionals: Have you had a moment that unexpectedly transformed your career and life perspective? How has it shaped your journey since?
Let's share our stories of transformation. After all, in the Philippines, we have a saying: "#SanaALL" - may we all experience such profound moments of change and growth.

P.S. As you watch the video, let the melody of "Amazing Grace" remind you of your own transformative moments. How have they shaped your amazing journey?

At Blue Peak Strategies, we dearly hold the ethos and pathos that define the Olympic spirit—an ethos of respect, unity, and global camaraderie. We are profoundly dismayed by the recent actions of the Paris International Olympic Committee (IOC) organizers in allowing the portrayal of the Last Supper with drag queens, which was acknowledged only after significant public backlash.
This decision not only contradicts the Olympic spirit but has also deeply offended our associates from diverse backgrounds and faiths. We stand with them in condemning this portrayal, which shows a troubling insensitivity to the sacred symbols and traditions that many hold dear. Such actions undermine the very foundations of respect and understanding that should be at the heart of the Olympics and all its associated cultural exhibitions.
We urge the organizers to not only address this lapse in judgment but also to take definitive steps to ensure that future exhibitions fully respect and reflect the diverse tapestry of global cultures and beliefs. The Olympics should be a time for bringing people together, not dividing them through insensitive portrayals.

🌊 Breaking news from the City of Light: Mayor Anne Hidalgo just swam in the Seine River! This isn't just any swim—it's a $1.5 billion statement. After a century-long ban, the Seine is open for Olympic business.
Picture this: Olympic athletes racing where countless baguettes once floated. It's not just about sports; it's a complete urban metamorphosis.🥖
As we watch the Seine transform, let's consider: How do global events reshape our cities? What's the ripple effect on local economies?
Food for thought as we witness history in the making. The world stage isn't just for athletes but also for visionary civic planning!
