Super kudos to all the single mom out there...it seems the challenges we face as single mothers is tripled in Africa.
Just being served a quit notice because the owner of the property realized I am a single mother.
To think that this is happening in the 21st century is depressing 😔.
We still keep our heads high and shoulders strong for ourselves.

The Female Quotient ~ Great that she is lifting up single mothers doing it all but let’s work toward work spaces and policies that support women so they don’t have to do it all.

Absolutely agree. Single mothers show incredible resilience. Often balancing work, home, and personal challenges. Also, they serve as role models of strength for their children.

Tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of the shooting at #Columbine High School that took place on April 20, 1999.
I was privileged to make a documentary about the 20th anniversary back in 2019, spending time with victims’ families, survivors, community members and #journalists who had covered the event - and many shootings since. This week, for the first time in five years, I watched back all of the interviews I had done. Some of it makes me hopeful, some makes me sad and some are hard for me to listen to. But all of it makes me feel lucky, to have been welcomed into those spaces and provided an opportunity to learn, to ask questions and to tell a story that I believed in.
This video is a collection of some of those moments from our interviews inside the library at Columbine High School. These moments weren't in the final film but are all segments that altered my perspective and that still resonate with me today. It is by no means a technical/filmmaking masterclass — I was a college student learning on the go — but I ask you to look past the imperfections and listen to the messages shared instead.
Just a few of the lessons I learned along the way:
•The way we report on trauma events is a balancing act — it’s important to keep communities informed but much more important to remember that those involved are real people who have experienced very real trauma. We have to do better at identifying ways to tell the story without making the situation worse for those we cover. #traumareporting
•Language is critical. Not saying the shooter’s name, using person-first language, and remembering that the victims are people with full, rich lives and not just a number.
•Journalists can suffer vicariously (or directly) from reporting on trauma events, too, even when behind the camera.
Gun violence #prevention and trauma reporting are areas I care deeply about, personally and professionally. Journalism is so valuable to the world and to reminding us not only of what can happen if we fail, but also showing us what can happen if we come together. It is not without flaws, though, particularly when it comes to reporting on trauma events. And so we move forward, adapt & learn from each other.
I am endlessly grateful for all of the people who welcomed me into their school, homes, offices and lives, even if for a few brief moments, and who trusted me with a piece of their story.
Tomorrow is a day of remembrance & recommitment.

If you are aware of the threat Long COVID poses, please share this for awareness and visibility to get the message out to those in your networks. #LongCOVID is a largely ignored danger we are all facing in our day to day lives. With a number of COVID protections dismantled, and public health messaging virtually nonexistent, it’s so important that organizations like World Health Network continue to share messages like this one. Those with Long COVID know from lived experience the severe impact COVID infections can have. As infection numbers rise again, please protect yourselves. Please mask up with respirators. Please listen to people like Crystal in the Long COVID community.
