Did you know that what you watch can affect your skin? Research shows that watching action films can spike your cortisol, which causes skin to be more sensitive, while comedy fans may be more prone to laugh lines, and drama lovers may experience more puffiness from crying. To bring this little-known fact to the masses (and better market Burt's Bees face care line), the team at FCB Canada launched "Screencare": product bundles designed to alleviate the skin sensitivities that fans of each genre could experience. Ranging from "The Romance Lover Set" to "The Horrorphile Set," each was not only tested to prove results, but utilized data from the Amazon Ads Brand Innovation Lab to reach the right audiences via a set of clever spots parodying movie trailers of said genres. LBBonline - Little Black Book’s Jordan Won Neufeldt sat down with the team from FCB Canada and Burt’s Bees’ marketing director Cyril Urbano for a chat to learn more about just what it took to bring this to life. Representation matters: a movie recommendation, a confession, a CTA. Last night my friend Alison invited me to a one-night-only movie screening in Manhattan. It was not: celebrities, red carpets, flashbulbs, a fully packed theater It was: a small romcom indy film with a disabled protagonist in a half empty theater [Spoiler alert] When the guy got his girl -- there were audible happy sighs and exclamations of delight from the members of the community who had shown up enmass (at least to the extent the theater could accommodate a limited number of wheelchairs and scooters) to see themselves on screen. It got me thinking about all the boring briefs I've written that resulted in casting the "ambiguous multi-racial" person. Because... mass appeal? Covering our bases? [chagrin] Make bold choices that get an audible response because the audience feels seen, maybe for the first time. Resonate with someone because the “safe” choice doesn't actually connect with anyone. Homogeneity is so booooooring. Also, and this is the business bit: Gen Z isn't having it.

New Post: ‘Desert Road’ review: A time-travel thriller unlike any you’ve seen before - https://lnkd.in/gsjEzpMj - Do you ever feel hopelessly stuck? Like no matter what you do, you keep ending up in the same shitty place? That's the conundrum facing the heroine of Desert Road. After crashing her car in a remote desert, no matter what Clare Devoir (Kristine Froseth) does, she ends up back where she started. The pieces don’t fit together. Time is wimey. Sometimes the few folks she comes across seem to know her, even fear her.A unique thriller that plays with time outside of a typical Groundhog's Day looping structure, Desert Road is an indie gem that you absolutely must seek out. SEE ALSO: 14 of the best time travel movies you can watch right now Desert Road offers an uncommon horror movie heroine.Forget the sheepish babysitters or the brazen hussies of slasher films. Forget the meta-heroines, so familiar with genre movies that they can practically predict what should happen next, be it zombies, vampires, or Back to the Future-esque antics. What makes Desert Road's heroine remarkable is all the ways she isn't playing into the tired stereotypes; she's neither a clueless victim nor a terrorized damsel. Clare doesn't have some cryptic backstory that will play into the plot. She's not especially skilled at anything in particular — at least not if you ask her. She dreams of being a photographer, but when anyone calls her that she blushes. Photographers get paid for their work, but she takes pictures she won't let anyone see. Perhaps she is her own worst critic, her own worst enemy, a self-saboteur. But when it comes to being in a pinch, she's self-reliant. When her tire is destroyed, she capably changes it. At a nearby gas station, she's quick to suss out a scam from its sketchy clerk (Max Mattern). But even being clever and capable, she doesn't know what to do when she can't escape this eponymous desert road. Over and over again, she walks from point A to point B to point C and winds up at A again. How is it possible? What does it mean? Is she dead? Is she doomed? Is there any way out?Desert Road is a lean, mind-bending thriller. There is a sophisticated slipperiness to the storytelling here. Writer/director Shannon Triplett rejects the rules and the clichés of so many sci-fi tales that have come before. By the time the pieces start to add up, It’s hard to do anything but marvel with a dropped jaw.Part of the horror here is that the scenario begins in such a mundane way. It’s easy to imagine yourself in a similar position, but the solutions are much harder to imagine. Thankfully, Clare is our grit-toothed guide, spitting out enough frustrated monologues to herself and pointed dialogues at others that we are able to follow with her as she maps out this tricky terrain. Froseth shoulders this journey with gumption and a captivating charisma that is edged with

Tom Hanks is often remembered for his iconic roles in movies such as "Forest Gump," "Philadelphia," and "Saving Private Ryan." However, many overlook his earlier achievements as a comedy actor, particularly his collaborations with Meg Ryan in romantic comedies. Recently, during a flight, I decided to revisit one of their joint ventures, "You Got Mail," and was surprised by its uncanny foresight into the future that would later impact us all. The film portrays the struggle between small businesses, represented by Meg's small bookstore, and the emergence of large retail chains, symbolized by Tom's character, echoing the eventual rise of online giants like Amazon and the demise of the corner stores and even the traditional brick-and-mortar stores like Borders. Beyond its commentary on shifting economic landscapes, "You Got Mail" is a nostalgic reminder of the early days of internet culture, particularly the dominance of AOL during the dial-up era. AOL, once the primary internet service provider in the United States, offered users access to chat rooms where anonymous interactions flourished. Unlike today's social media platforms, which emphasize curated profiles and images, AOL's chat rooms fostered genuine connections based solely on text and pseudonyms, allowing for openness and authenticity rarely found in today's online interactions. Revisiting "You Got Mail" highlights the enduring relevance of its themes and prompts reflection on the enduring parallels between technology, business, and human behavior. As we navigate through ever-evolving mediums and market dynamics, the film reminds us of the constants that shape our interactions and choices. In the end, you can recognize the patterns that persist despite time. https://lnkd.in/e9JzUATc

Maybe it wasn’t very “girl’s girl” of me to post criticism of Blake without sharing what I would do if Blake hired me for the “It Ends with Us” social campaign. Here’s a take no one asked for: 💐 Push the launch of Blake's hair care line to MUCH later post movie launch and make sure Target could actually fulfill orders. I can see this working so well when “A Simple Favor 2” comes out later this year. Let it have its moment. 💐 Let Deadpool’s promo be its own and let this movie shine in the ways it was meant to. 💐 Partner with BookTok creators who love this book and hire them to create positive content about the adaptation. 💐 PR and message training for all the actors. They re actors, not DV counselors, they deserved guidance on how to speak about this subject matter with grace. 💐 Adjust the “grab your girls and dress in florals!” messaging in favor of thoughtful interviews with the cast and creators who can speak to the subject matter more graciously. 💐 partner Justin and Blake in interviews so they can play off each other: let her talk about the costumes and the character and Justin can speak to the delicate nature of directing a movie about DV.

Humour makes people more likely to buy: I help brands use it profitably | Creator of HumourScope® | International keynote speaker
False. (In fact, this is one of the biggest misconceptions I encounter). To explain: comedy is the *dramatic manifestation* of humour. So you need: 1) A character 2) A story This might be, for example, a stand-up telling a funny anecdote or an actor in a sitcom. ...But with humour in advertising, it’s quite different. For instance, you might have a billboard with no character and no story — but it’ll still be funny. Just think of many Oatly ads. To really get to the root of things, it’s important to put our notions of comedy to one side. Only then can we explore humour mechanisms and see how they’ll work best in your advertising. Visual Communicator: I create images that humanize brands and distinguish them from competitors. You have to get noticed before you can gain someone's trust.
A very interesting distinction-- helpful, too, because the better a brand understands humor, the more apt they are to employ it and reap its benefits. #marketing #advertising #brands #marketingstrategy #ads

This is the importance of telling our sixties story Bubblegum Sun in an entertaining way... There are too many things that have not changed. Abuse of deadly drugs is even more rampant, violence fills the streets, and hate is still in full swing. How do you reach the world? Preaching will not help... maybe, just maybe, by being entertained on a screen (in the way that most now see the world)? Perhaps someone will walk out and think, "I'll skip the fentenyl for a change," or maybe some parents or grandparents will say, "I can do better for the kids." Maybe Bubblegum Sun will serve as persuasion to be better, or maybe it will be just seen as enjoyable fun. The viewers will take what they take from our story... that's the point of presenting socially relevant content in an entertaining way. Tagline: "Reason of age." Logine: "Two teenage sisters navigate, friends, family, drugs, and race, as they find their voices during the civil rights movement of 1967. Lives forever change as drugs flow north from Toledo and riots move south from Detroit." Inspired by real events.
