I’m incredibly proud to volunteer, campaign, fundraise and - for the last year - to work in a professional capacity for Cancer Research UK (CRUK). Every single day, I read and hear very personal, precious stories about people touched by cancer. But I also see the remarkable progress we are making together to tackle cancer - from discovery science through to prevention, earlier diagnosis and better, kinder treatments. #TogetherWeAreBeatingCancer👇 I’m especially proud of the success we have had tackling the biggest cause of cancer - smoking: the only legal consumer product which, when used as intended by the manufacturers, kills most long term users. Tobacco caused my dad’s lung cancer and his death aged just 66.👇 Our #SmokefreeUK campaign brings the voices of our incredible Campaigns Ambassadors, with their lived experiences, passion and determination, to amplify our evidence based policy calls, recommendations and to effect real change. Nothing the UK Government could do will save more lives and prevent more cancers than addressing the harms caused by tobacco.👇 In the coming weeks, the ‘Smokefree Generation’ (tobacco and vapes) bill will be debated in UK Parliament.
