🎉 Thank you for joining our #WHS2023 side event on 'Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights and Bodily Autonomy in a Digital World.' 🌍 Your insights and participation amplify our collective voice. In this digital era, the importance of ensuring bodily autonomy and advancing gender equity cannot be overstated. Continue to raise your voices and make noise as we strive for change, United in our mission, we are determined to make meaningful strides in global health. 🤝 Our diverse panelists emphasized the role of technology in championing #SRHR and the significance of bodily autonomy in the digital era. Key Takeaways: 1️⃣ Technology is a tool, not the solution. People must always be at the center of health interventions. 2️⃣ Apply human rights standards to technology and digital platforms, especially in the realm of #SRHR. 3️⃣ Address digital inequities and the gender digital divide by ensuring access, acceptability, and affordability for all. 4️⃣ Safeguarding digital spaces for open discussions is critical, given the ongoing pushback on SRHR and bodily autonomy. 5️⃣ Integrate health equity content into the core of tech products to ensure they cater to everyone, everywhere. 6️⃣ Raising our collective voices and making noise to champion SRHR and bodily autonomy. Together, let's create a digital world that genuinely upholds and celebrates bodily autonomy and gender inclusivity. 🌍🤝 #BodilyAutonomy #WHS2023

ACN Healthcare Celebrates Pride: Reflecting on Inclusion in Healthcare This Pride Month, ACN Healthcare joins the call for reflection, empowerment, and unity. While we strive to be allies for the LGBTQIA+ community, we recognize that true inclusion is a continuous journey. For many LGBTQIA+ individuals, healthcare settings haven't always felt like safe spaces to be their authentic selves. At ACN, we're committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for both patients and employees. Here's how we're reflecting on our journey towards better inclusion: -Unconscious Bias Training: We're actively addressing unconscious bias through training programs for our staff. -LGBTQIA+ Patient Sensitivity: Ensuring our staff provides culturally competent care, respecting diverse identities. -Building Inclusive Workplaces: Fostering a safe space for open communication and celebrating the unique experiences of all our employees. Together, let's create a healthcare system where everyone feels empowered and respected. #PrideMonth #HealthcareForAll #ACNCares

This year, International Women's Day celebrates the theme of #inspireinclusion. This theme holds particular significance for women's health, particularly in the low-resource settings in which Critical Care International works. Disparities in access to healthcare disproportionately impact women in these regions, leaving them vulnerable to preventable illnesses and complications. We must strive for a world where all women, regardless of background, can access the preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services they need to live healthy lives. We can address challenges by: 📣𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: Increase the number of skilled healthcare providers in rural areas and equip them with the resources they need to deliver quality care. 📣𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬: Educate women and communities about their sexual and reproductive health rights and empower them to make informed decisions about their healthcare. 📣𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Utilize innovative technology to reach geographically isolated communities and provide essential health services. 📣𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬: Empower women's groups and local leaders to become advocates for women's health within their communities. By working together, we can create healthcare systems that are inclusive, equitable, and empowering. A huge thank you also to the women in our CCI team, who work to address these challenges every day. #iwd2024 #womenshealth #equality #inclusion #healthequality

Women's health and rights are fundamental pillars for achieving a healthy, equitable, and just society. Ensuring women have access to comprehensive healthcare and equal rights is not only a moral imperative but also a cornerstone for sustainable development. Here's why prioritising women's health and rights is essential: 👉 Access to Comprehensive Healthcare: Women need access to quality healthcare services throughout their lives, including reproductive health services, prenatal and postnatal care, and screenings for breast and cervical cancers. Ensuring these services are accessible and affordable can significantly improve women's health outcomes. 👉 Empowerment through Education: Education is a powerful tool for empowering women. Educated women are more likely to make informed health choices, seek medical care when needed, and advocate for their health rights. Investing in girls' and women's education leads to healthier families and communities. 👉 Addressing Gender-Based Violence: Gender-based violence remains a critical issue affecting women's health and rights. Providing support services, legal protection, and awareness campaigns can help reduce violence and its long-term health impacts on women. 👉 Workplace Equality and Health: Women should have equal opportunities and support in the workplace, including access to maternity leave, child care, and flexible working conditions. Policies that support work-life balance and maternal health contribute to overall well-being and economic productivity. 👉 Advocacy and Policy Change: Advocacy for women's health and rights is crucial. Policies that promote gender equality, protect reproductive rights, and ensure equal access to healthcare are essential for fostering an environment where women can thrive. Promoting women's health and rights is not just a women's issue—it's a societal issue. By supporting women's health and ensuring their rights are upheld, we contribute to healthier communities and a more equitable world. The #WELL Building Standard supports women by promoting gender-inclusive design and policies that address women's health needs. This includes features such as lactation rooms, access to comprehensive workplace wellness programs, and initiatives to reduce gender disparities. By creating environments that cater to the specific needs of women, the WELL Building Standard fosters a more inclusive and supportive workplace for all. #WomensHealth #WomensRights #GenderEquality #Healthcare #WeareWELL

🌈 Today is #IDAHOBIT Day, the International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination. PhD candidate Jan Kilicaslan and Associate Professor Melissa Petrakis from Monash Social Work recently undertook research exploring the lived experiences and perspectives of healthcare workers regarding #LGBTQIA+ safety and responsiveness. We asked them what changes we need to make to ensure our healthcare system is safe and inclusive for LGBTQIA+ communities - both as patients and as healthcare workers. Here’s what they had to say: “Despite decades of advocacy and effort from LGBTQIA+ experts and allies to improve health, wellbeing and employment-related outcomes, the evidence highlights that people from LGBTQIA+ communities consistently have significantly poorer healthcare experiences as both healthcare recipients and in workplace equity as healthcare employees. This is often due to experiences of prejudices such as homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and intersexphobia. “Our research found that there’s still an urgent need for targeted policies and models of care to tackle inequities faced by LGBTQIA+ people in the health workforce and when accessing healthcare. There’s a lack of trauma-informed practice and many unsafe clinical and cultural approaches with consumers. We identified the need for safer workplaces that overtly validate LGBTQIA+ pride and inclusion, with policies and practices that avoid tokenism and embed permanent and sustainable change. “We also found a lack of formal training to support knowledge and confidence in working with and caring for LGBTQIA+ people. There’s still work required to promote understanding of pronoun use, gender identity and diversity, intersex variation, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander experiences of gender and sexual diversity. We need regular training and education delivered to all staff, in all disciplines at all seniority levels at health services, and inclusion of LGBTQIA+ sensitivity in university education curricula for all health disciplines. “LGBTQIA+ specific Peer Lived Experience roles are also vital to improving safety and responsiveness. These were seen as invaluable roles that create a sense of safety, and can fill knowledge gaps and facilitate safer practice by offering mentoring, supervision and secondary consultations. “Crucially, services must invest appropriate resources to ensure sustainability and long-term commitment to initiatives that strengthen and sustain best practice in providing safe and inclusive care to LGBTQIA+ communities.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/geRaeeSB

🌍✊ World Health Day 2024: My Health, My Right ✊🌍 As feminists, we understand that the right to health is deeply intertwined with issues of gender equality and social justice. Across the globe, millions of individuals, particularly women and marginalized communities, face systemic barriers that threaten their health and well-being. 💪 It's time to challenge the status quo and demand that health services prioritize the needs of everyone, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. 👩⚕️ Access to quality health services is not just a privilege, it's a fundamental human right. Every person deserves comprehensive healthcare that addresses their unique needs, including sexual and reproductive health services. 🌱 Clean air, safe drinking water, and nutritious food are not luxuries—they are essential for our survival and thriving. We demand environmental policies that prioritize the health of communities over corporate profits. 👩🔬 Education and information are powerful tools for empowerment. We must ensure that everyone has access to accurate health information and resources to make informed decisions about their bodies and well-being. 💧 Safe housing, fair working conditions, and freedom from discrimination are crucial components of holistic health. We refuse to accept a world where individuals are denied basic rights and dignity based on their gender or identity. Let's come together this World Health Day to advocate for a future where every person's right to health is respected and protected. Our health, our bodies, our rights—let's fight together. #MyHealthMyRight #FeministHealthcare #HealthForAll 🌟 Mathangi Swaminathan sheela bowler Pooja jha Vamsee Prateek Gurram Divya Sooryakumar Stacey Keare Jyothi Ravichandran Nora Khalaf-Elledge
