🕵️♂️ The Unspoken Art of Correlation: A Recruiter's Secret Weapon 🎯 In the world of recruiting, we're like modern-day detectives. Our case? Uncovering the perfect candidate in a sea of resumes. But here’s the catch - the most crucial skill isn’t listed in any job description or taught in Recruitment 101. It’s the art of correlation. Imagine this: You’re looking at a resume, and there it is, hidden between the lines - the candidate who organized the office karaoke night has leadership potential. Or the one who blogs about medieval history? They've got the research skills your team lacks. It’s not just about connecting dots. It’s about seeing the constellation in a handful of stars. It's what separates the good recruiters from the great. So, the next time you find yourself deciphering a resume, remember: Sherlock Holmes has nothing on you. Your magnifying glass? Correlation. Your mystery? Finding the perfect fit. Your reward? The game-changing hire that was hiding in plain sight. Check out my two cents on Correlation in the context of Recruitment!!! A faculty when developed can transform your Recruiting Career. An excerpt from my session on “A Rewarding Career in Talent Acquisition. 🌟 Unlocking Potential Beyond the Resume 🌟 As a recruiter, my favorite part of the job is seeing beyond what’s on paper. Too often, we overlook candidates because they lack certain qualifications or have gaps in their resumes. This approach misses out on incredible potential. Giving someone a chance to prove themselves can be truly rewarding. Yes, it might require additional training, and yes, some candidates may not meet expectations. But even candidates who check every box can disappoint. More often than not, those we take a chance on work harder, driven by the opportunity to prove their worth. They connect deeply with the company's mission and contribute beyond just earning a paycheck. Let’s allow candidates to demonstrate their HUNGER for success and growth. #Recruitment #TalentAcquisition #CareerGrowth #HR #Hiring

As technology continues to advance, it's becoming increasingly difficult for job seekers to get noticed by hiring managers. Even with experience under your belt, if your resume isn't tailored to meet the requirements of automated systems, you may never get the chance to showcase your skills to a human being. While this process may seem efficient, it can also be frustrating for job seekers who prefer the old school way of getting to know their applicants. At the end of the day, nothing beats a personal connection and the ability to truly get to know a candidate beyond their resume. What do you think? Are you a fan of the traditional hiring process or do you think technology has its place in the job search? Share your thoughts in the comments below. #jobsearch #hiringprocess #humanconnection

Did you know that a whopping 41% of businesses find entry-level roles the most difficult to fill…? This statistic shines a light on a common challenge, and with entry level roles making up the largest percentage of all recruitment in our industry – it’s a challenge we really need to unpack! In my experience (3 years in Graduate Recruitment and 15 years in Media), the biggest error we are making in the interview process… is the interview process! Bringing candidates who have little to no experience into a meeting room and asking them questions that differ in no way, shape or form to those you’d ask an experienced candidate is unhelpful, unfruitful and unfair. Flaunt’s model builds a forum for genuine connection. We create an authentic environment where both candidates and employers can interact on a personal level, fostering a deeper understanding of compatibility. As an employer, you gain invaluable insights into how candidates communicate and collaborate with peers, navigate challenges and demonstrate crucial success elements for our industry such as adaptability and critical thinking. The confidence you feel in hiring someone when you have witnessed this level of insight into who candidates truly are is unparalleled. Let’s flip the narrative for new talent and create a space for them to showcase who they are… let’s give them an opportunity to Flaunt. To understand how we make this happen, drop us a little note: [email protected] #earlycareers #entryleveljobs #graduatecareers #mediajobs #mediaindustry

Tuesday Career Move Tip for the Day! To help you stand out from other candidates, find a position you are interested in and identify all the keywords and qualifications listed within the posting. It’s a good idea to tailor your resume in a way that highlights how your experience and education qualify you to meet the specific job qualifications and keywords listed within that specific posting. Repeat this process for each position you are applying for, as HR staff, Software or Hiring Managers tend to filter qualified candidates by the same, or similar keywords to those stated in the original posting. Finally, don’t forget to follow up your resume and/or application with a personal email note to HR or the Hiring Manager(s) expressing your continued interest and fit for this position. This small gesture will help you to stand out from other applicants and distinguish you from the rest in the field, as the hiring authority sorts through all the job applicants and related paperwork. #careertips, #jobtips, #careerchange, #careerswitch

I HIRED a Candidate with 10 months EMPLOYMENT GAP. The candidate was talented and cleared all rounds of the interview and tests. → When I asked the candidate, do you have any questions? The candidate said, "Why didn't you grill me more about my employment gap?" → I simply replied, "Being on both sides of the interview process gave me a different perspective. LIFE is unpredictable. My primary focus is on your skills and attitude towards the job. Someone took a chance on me, so I am willing to take a chance on you. " I have learned over the years if you want the best talent, stop looking for PERFECTION. It doest not EXIST! Resumes don't perform jobs. It's PEOPLE - so hire PEOPLE not RESUMES. ✅ Agree? #hiring #jobs #corporate #humanresources

CV's are holding you back from finding the right talent... I have read and advised on thousands of CV’s that didn’t accurately represent a candidate, for a wide variety of reasons. I’ve seen spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and even a Software Developer without a single mention of a programming language… These small mistakes may be an issue, but perhaps we should be looking at the bigger picture. Why do we rely so heavily on a CV to screen a candidate? A recent LinkedIn study found that 88% of recruiters admit they are filtering out skilled candidates purely because they do not possess specific job titles or qualifications on their CV. Whilst education can be an important factor in assessing a candidate’s skill set, it can come in many forms outside of a university degree. To assume that a uni graduate is going to have the best skills for what your organisation needs is short-sighted and most likely misled. Skills-based hiring is a progressive approach to recruitment which centers on a candidate's competencies and potential, regardless of their previous work experience, university, or opportunity. It’s been found that Talent pools expand nearly 10x when using a skills-first approach and lead to higher employee retention due to the ability to more laterally within the organisation. In 2022, Deloitte surveyed 1,021 workers, 225 business and HR executives in ten countries. 98% of which said they plan on moving more toward becoming a skills-based organization. Is your organisation aiming to become more skills-based? If so, how far along are you in the journey? I’d love to hear some insights. And if not… Why? #skillsbasedhiring #talentacquisition #cv #workforcesolutions Michelle McGuiness Jennifer Hazell-Smith Ewan Greig Tatyana Sychova 🇺🇦 Mike Turner Cat Halliwell Simon Bradberry
