Our optimization process is typically driven by drive-cycle analysis, which sometimes involves demanding cycles such as the Nürburgring/Nordschleife. Luckily our motors excel in thermal performance, rarely experiencing significant derating compared to traditional radial flux machines. 🕬 Recently, as a result of VVMethods (Verification and Validation Methods), a consortium comprising members from the fields of industry and science presented the world’s first safety concept for automated driving in urban environments. 🚘 The testing and validation of highly automated driving solutions is crucial to bring these vehicles safely to the roads. The challenge is that there is an infinite number of potentially critical situations in road traffic. However, it is impossible to assess all these scenarios in physical tests due to their sheer number, so that the experts rely on simulation. TÜV SÜD is participating in the research project of VVMethods as an expert in automated and connected driving and acts as the link connecting industry, science and regulatory authorities that will ultimately approve the automated and connected vehicles for road use. Virtual #homologation is completely necessary for the safe operation of vehicles with #AutonomousDriving functions. 🛣 #ODDs (operational design domain) can be more easily designed and configured in a simulation, and these scenarios often involve a large number of application parameters. Only extensive testing is sufficient to find the #safety boundary, which can only be realised in #simulation. 🚖 However, don't we need tests on #ProvingGrounds? Not at all. The physical world, and especially the #perception, cannot be fully simulated. The challenge is now how to 📣 accurately reproduce the scenarios in the simulation on proving grounds. 🚀 We are releasing our networked automated vehicle solution for autonomous driving test for proving grounds.
