Sports & Entertainment is a big topic. From the players on the field, the stadiums around them, and even the crowds who came to see it all. What’s also there is the entire fan experience: a carefully choreographed set of systems that most people don't see (by design). With the FIFA World Cup, NBA All-Star Game and the Olympics and Paralympics coming to Los Angeles, what's next for the future of Sports & Entertainment?

What is Apple up to in live sports? This GQ Magazine interview with Apple’s head of services, Eddy Cue, breaks it down. If you’ve ever wondered: What channel is the game on? Will the bar down the street have my game? Am I going to be able to watch my team when traveling abroad? That friction in the marketplace is a problem in search of a solution. Every game. No blackouts. Anywhere in the world. One service. That’s the vision. #streaming #sportsbusiness #sportsmarketing https://lnkd.in/g-VcnQWM

#LinkedInSports challenge Day 26. Prompt: Break down a recent sports industry report or study and highlight key takeaways. This isn’t a report per se, but one trend I’ve noticed across the board in sports is the stadium experience beyond just the action that happens on the field or court. When I was a kid, I would beg my dad to take me to the game itself. Watching on TV just wasn’t the same. Now with 3D tv’s, HDTV, and the ability to watch multiple games at one time - going to the game itself has lost its luster for many people. This is especially true for younger generations who are used to consuming content in small bits and not over 3 hours. Teams and universities have tried to combat this by making the game itself an event with tailgates, game activities, giveaways, and other draws outside of just the game itself. I think organizations will need to continue to be creative in how they market themselves and keep fans engaged, and you can see the success of a team that has fully embraced this with the Savannah Bananas.

Originator of Streaming TV, TMT Futurist, CEO@FreeCastTV, @SelectTV, @StreamingTVKit @RabbitTV fmr MegaChannels.TV (circa 1998), 30yr Tech Entrepreneur.
NEWS ALERT: Professional Sports Goes FREE! Well ok that's not really new news but certainly funny. What's not funny, is most of our viewing devices today....stream. Now the sports I want, while its always free in my area, "my teams" I want to watch and support, costs a small fortune to stream from 5 different subscriptions, most poor to moderate quality. Yet using our new FreeCast HomeRun combination box I can get the Free Local Sports sent OTA (Over the Air) across my entire home's broadband network onto my streaming devices (Smart TVs, Mobile, Sticks, etc) and all my combined OTT (Over the Top) streaming services as well. However...this is all just stupid. Yes stupid, from me the guy who is bringing consumers solutions for this problem. Walled Gardens by old Movie studios who somehow got to your consumer eyeballs attention, which are trying to steal you away daily from each other in a expensive tug-o-war game have forgotten the rights are with the Broadcasters. But both of these groups (Stream Co's and Broadcasters) are being sold a major snipe hunt by young aspiring tech leaders ( w no experience?)....that somehow they are technology companies? Now that's even funnier. Loosing billions and confusing, even pissing off consumers more everyday. Broadcasters better step up! Quit playing mad scientists on old school thinking. You can't do it yourselves and expect domination over your other peers. Just ask yourselves...how's that working for the Streamers (loosing billions)? One Platform, One App, Non Competitive, Agnostic, Profitable, No Confusion, No Infrastructure Costs, No Maintenance...Big Margins. Just remember I told both (Streamers and Broadcasters) 20 years ago this day was coming. I damn sure plan on making it happen the right way for consumers who are intentionally being torn apart. Have a great sports weekend everyone! https://lnkd.in/eEhRn6Cu

As teenage sensation Luke Littler turbocharges interest in darts, O&O's Joe Topping and Charlie Catterall explore how the success of individual athletes can be best harnessed. "The extent of the impact of the ‘Littler Effect’ will largely depend on darts’ ability to convert as many of these new, ‘intrigued fans’ as possible into casual fans in the short term, and then, in the long run, convert them into avid fans. The more successful a sport is in doing this, in theory, the greater the value of future rights deals."
