In your org/company, have you ever felt like you get paid to learn? In my experience at Educate!, I certainly do, and I absolutely love it 😍 . Reflecting on my 1.5 years at E! as a designer, I’ve been introduced to numerous tools, particularly as our product scales with the #Education #System #Solution (#ESS) through single subject (Entrepreneurship) reform in upper secondary schools in Rwanda. A few months after joining E!, I became part of the Designer Hub, a team of over 10 talented designers (🇷🇼, 🇺🇬, & 🇰🇪) led by our #Principal #Product #Strategist, Marit Blaak, PhD 🙏 who has unique ability to foster productive discussions and thoughtful processing with great ease, structures, and 🔧 tools. We meet monthly to share updates on different products, learn important design topics and competencies, align on E!'s design principles and processes, share best practices, etc. We also stay connected via a WhatsApp group to exchange valuable resources and updates. #Some #key #learnings #so #far #include: ▶ ▶ Culture of Experimentation and Iterative Design: Instead of isolated experiments and designs, we aspire to embed a culture that values and practices continuous refinement, ensuring our solutions evolve based on real-world feedback from our youth, teachers, and trainers. ▶ ▶ User Personas and Journey Mapping:  These help us understand and design user-centered experiences by defining user profiles and their interactions with our product. ▶ ▶ Design Principles (more on these in my future posts), problem framing, cultivating creativity in design, UX/LX Strategy, etc. ▶ ▶ And here is our favorite quote: "Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works." If you have a wonderful team like mine, consider yourself lucky and make sure to tell them directly. yeah, speak up and break the norm of staying quiet when you see the good in others. It won't diminish the goodness within you; in fact, it might just enhance it. Shout-outs to my team 🎉 🎉 _Anthony muzito, Frank Omona, Molly Gatobu, ANN KABENGI, Edith Mukyala, Fabiola Kabera, Kusiimwa Francis, ... and indeed, having a great manager like Sarah O. 👏 is also a true blessing. She provides specific and timely feedback without waiting for formal evaluations, asks challenging questions, and listens actively without judgements --creating the #psychological #safety needed to do my work. Most importantly, she’s taught me to always #question and #validate my #assumptions —crucial skills for designers (oh yeah, for leaders too!). This resonates well with Steve Blank's quote "No facts exist inside the buildings, only opinions". #LearningDesign #UserJourneyMapping #TeamAppreciation #UX #CreativeProcess #Leadership #AlwaysLearning #constantImprovement

Design might not be the solution to everything but with your design approach we surely can solve loads of problems and create value for youth and teachers.
