Congratulations summer interns🏆 are you ready to get to work? One thing I think is important for this new summer intern class to work on is utilization, each sprinkle on the cupcake represents a different way to use the L'Oreal makeup. What can you as interns do to make sure I get my money's worth by using every bit of makeup I buy from L'Oreal? The words fun and vibes are really good to use if you are just introducing yourself for the first time. When you're investing money on these types of products you expect them to be there even after you complete your marketing interview. What secrets have you learned from working behind L'Oreal?

This week we welcomed 80 summer interns into our Capital Markets business, representing the top 1% selected from over 6,000 applicants! Some of my most valuable experiences came from my internships, shaping not only my professional life but also my personal journey.   During my first one at Arthur Andersen (at the time part of the Big 5!), I discovered two things: that public accounting wasn't for me, but that I had a passion for client management. This realization allowed me to shift full focus to business and finance. The following summer, my interest in technology and finance was sparked during my Hewlett-Packard internship, but I realized I was seeking a more entrepreneurial environment.   The final piece of the puzzle was my first job, a short run at tech start-up ReplayTV at the end of the tech boom in ‘99. This was followed by a great opportunity at a high growth start-up, Good Technology. However, I ultimately decided tech was not my passion and shifted my sights to commercial real estate. With the invaluable support of my mentors at Good Technology (thanks Danny Shader, Joel Jewitt), I wrapped up my role there and moved to Dallas to pursue CRE.   Without these formative experiences, I wouldn't have discovered my passion, and it’s why I love welcoming new interns to our program at JLL. This is a new one! I remember watching the movie "The Intern" a while back. Just a few days ago I ran into a YouTube short of that part where Robert De Niro was getting interviewed and it got me thinking.....Hey! Can something like this work in real life?!? Are there already programs like this that companies use? I got in touch with Shikha Gupta to get to know more about this. Do also check out her article about this. Here are some questions that were on my mind which I think I have answers to (Please correct me if I am wrong.) - 1. Is this very different from Advisors or Consultants that companies hire? - Yes, in the sense that the consultants are usually not always present, and they only give directions but rarely get their hands dirty while the activities are being executed. 2. Can something like this work in India? - I believe yes, given the number of people who have retired. (A 2018 HBR study showed that around 10000 people turn 65 daily in the US. The number has only gone up since then I can imagine and must be even higher in India.) These are all people who are top of their industries, and one can only imagine the wealth of information they hold. 3. Will the people actually be interested in doing something like this? - This is something that I am not very sure about. 4. Will something like this even be helpful? - Yes, very much so. There are so many startups nowadays that rely only on new ideas and new thoughts.
