What most people love about cotton is its soft comfort, breathability, absorbency and versatility of use. As textile scientists who are passionate about sustainability, we love that cotton’s cellulosic structure is strong and durable, making it the perfect material for our Nucycl® fiber regeneration process which produces a fiber stronger than the original. #CottonComfort #TextileScience #SustainableFashion #CellulosicFiber #FabricInnovation #SustainableMaterials #FashionInnovation

"Excited to share that our latest research project, guided by the expertise of Dr. R Rathinamoorthy, is delving into the environmental impact of denim manufacturing on Microfibre pollution. With a focus on the often-overlooked issue of microfiber pollution, we're unraveling the complexities of natural and regenerated cellulose fibers in denim. Our meticulous approach, spanning fabric selection, washing simulation, and fiber shedding analysis, aims to quantify the extent of microfiber release and pinpoint key influencing factors. Stay tuned for the unveiling of our findings, shedding light on the impact of cotton microfibers and paving the way for more sustainable denim practices. #DenimResearch #MicrofiberPollution #SustainabilityInFashion"

Quality over quantity. The cultural shift that prioritizes quality over quantity. In a world obsessed with "more and more," we choose to focus on "better and better." SlowFiber is leading the way in embracing an approach to textile production that values attention to detail and durability. While the textile industry continues to produce at frenetic paces, we believe it's time to slow down and give value to things made with care. Quality not only ensures greater satisfaction but also reduces the environmental impact of excessive production and consumption. #slowfiber

When it comes to dyes, what the textile industry uses matters. Why, you may ask? They are a booming industry, making and selling clothes all over the world. Their main staple is synthetic dye, which is harmful to not just the planet but also to humans. There are a number of reasons why natural dye is more beneficial to the planet than synthetic, which we’ll get into! #blog #sustainability #ecofriendly #sustainableliving #ecofriendlyliving #naturalliving #naturaldyes #blog #newblogpost #vertemode

Let's address the (microfibre-shaped) elephant in the room. Every year, the equivalent to 700 million polyester shirts are released into the ocean from microfibre shedding.🌊 We estimate that a staggering 3 billion more are being caught and lost in unrecoverable sludge. But why should we be thinking about our microfibre emissions? We know that microfibre pollution released from textile manufacturing is typically a mixture of organic and plastic fibres, all of which are damaging for natural ecosystems.🌍 At Matter, we are working with industry brands and manufacturers to conduct our Microfibre Assessment Programme (MAP). During a MAP, our expert team collects data to gain insight into microfibres released in the environment during manufacture, and to determine recommendations for intervention.🧑🔬 Read more about how we are delivering impact through our textiles solutions: https://lnkd.in/d9cJA4ar #fashion #supplychainmanagement #sustainablefashion #textile #microfibres

Did you know that microplastics, particularly in the form of fibres, have become a persistent environmental concern? These minute threads, originating from synthetic textiles such as polyester and nylon, are often invisible to the naked eye. They have infiltrated our oceans, soils, and even the air we breathe, posing a significant threat to ecosystems and human health. But there are ways to tackle this issue. The recently published ISO 4484-1:2023 has provided us with a systematic approach for assessing material loss under lab-scale washing conditions, ensuring accurate and comparable results. For investigations related to domestic and commercial laundering, there are several tools, including microplastic release analysis, testing of different filter solutions, comparative studies on washing programs, filters, or machines, and gravimetric and microscopic analyses. RISE has partnered up with various startups, washing machine manufacturers, and governmental bodies to help the textile industry reduce their microplastic emissions. We employ established techniques and create tailored methods to measure fibre release. Our commitment is to deliver accurate and reliable data, thereby contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment. Don’t hesitate to contact RISE for more information on how our services can benefit your organization. https://lnkd.in/d5ZScRpb #microplastics #microfiber #textileindustry #sustainability #textile

DID YOU KNOW...? 🧠 1. Polyester is the most widely used synthetic fibre in the world, accounting for over half of the global fibre market! 2. It's also highly recyclable. Our recycled polyester fibre is made from 100% PET bottles. 3. Polyester fibres are naturally hydrophobic, meaning they're moisture resistant. 4. These fibres are known for their strength and durability. They are resistant to stretching, shrinking, and wrinkling! 5. Polyester is extremely versatile and can be engineered to copy the texture and feel of natural fibres like silk, cotton, or wool. Want to know more? Get in touch today and discover how polyester can enhance your product. #PolyesterFibres #TextilesIndustry
