Cloth waste refers to discarded or unused materials from the production and consumption of textiles and clothing. 1.Pre-consumer Waste: Generated during the manufacturing process, including cuttings, trimmings, and defective products that do not meet quality standards. 2.Post-consumer Waste: Generated by consumers, such as clothing items that are discarded due to damage, wear, or changing fashion trends. 3.End-of-Life Products: Textiles and clothing that reach the end of their usable life and are disposed of, typically ending up in landfills. Cloth waste poses environmental challenges due to its volume and composition. It contributes to pollution, occupies landfill space, and can release harmful substances as it decomposes. Additionally, the production of textiles involves significant resources such as water, energy, and chemicals, making textile waste a resource-intensive issue. #WasteSegregation #wastereduction #waste #wastecollection #wasteremoval #reducereuserecycle #wastabin #wasta #wasteremoval #godigital

❗ 20% ❗ That’s the amount of global clean water pollution that textile production is estimated to be responsible for. This for example comes from dyeing and finishing products and microplastic fibres that are discharged when washing e.g. polyester clothes. In fact, washing synthetic products means that more than half a million tonnes of microplastics end up on the bottom of the ocean every year 🌊 Change is needed, and while it is essential that the industry itself contributes a lot to this change, it cannot do it alone. It also requires attention, requirements, and consequences from governments and lawmakers as well as a change in consumers’ buying habits. #waterpollution #textileproduction #microplastics

All textiles shed #microfibers during use and in the wash, where they then enter our waterways. Synthetic textiles are responsible for 35% of the microplastics found in our #oceans. Because of this, the type of fabric we choose matters. Unlike synthetic fibers such as #polyester, cotton microfibers are natural and biodegrade – therefore, they do not contribute to the plastic pollution problem. https://brnw.ch/21wMeu3 #CottonIncorporated #cotton #sustainability

As the world tackles plastic pollution, an important contributor gaining attention is #microplastics from #textiles. When synthetic textiles are washed, they shed tiny fiber fragments known as microplastics. These non-biodegradable fibers can accumulate and pose a significant environmental threat and human health. There are growing efforts by retailers and manufacturers to comply with microplastic testing standards and mitigate this issue. Eurofins provides comprehensive microplastic testing services with customized methodologies to meet your specific business needs. 📙Read our white paper for more insights about microplastic: https://lnkd.in/ggNMYXqY ☎️Contact us for direct support: https://lnkd.in/gp-DSzCA #SustainabilityService #Microplastics #Textile #Eurofins #CPT #Vietnam
