It's not just the Glass Ceiling: The Broken Rung is stopping women’s progress. While women do struggle to get to the top and navigate once they are there, it all starts at the entry-level. Women and men enter at the same rate, but at the first promotion, women fall off. For every 100 men that are promoted, only 87 women are promoted, and this number decreases to 54 for black women. This is due to the fact that men are promoted based on potential, whereas women are promoted based on their performance. In that first promotion cycle, women oftentimes have not had the time to accumulate enough experience to reach performance levels for that promotion, which accounts for these disparate effects. However, the numbers show that women are as ambitious as ever. As Women's History Month begins, the call is clear: pursue lucrative opportunities, leave undervalued roles, build networks, ask for deserved raises and promotions, and always recognize your value! International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Since 1995, presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as “Women's History Month.” These proclamations celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history. This momentum and state-by-state action was used as the rational to lobby Congress to declare the entire month of March 1987 as National Women's History Month. In 1987, Congress declared March as National Women's History Month in perpetuity.

Today we highlighted three of my favorite women in history for different reasons. Is there a woman that inspires you? Share below. #womenhistorymonth #womenentrepreneurs #womeninbusiness
To kick off this Women’s History Month, we’d like to celebrate the women who have made history, are making history, and going to make history. These three women are just a few of many we look up to and appreciate for their contributions to society. ♀️Mel Robbins because as fellow a entrepreneur and anxious person, her advice is always spot on. And her story is downright inspiring and proves you can achieve your goals if you have gumption, grit, and discipline in a way that works for you. ♀️Dolly Parton for standing up for what she believes in, always. She doesn’t let anyone define her, and she’s always a bright light in a world that wants to bring people like her down. She also firmly believes in giving children access to books and the power of giving back, two things we can appreciate here. ♀️And Ruth for showing the world that women’s rights matter, too. I’m a huge fan of RBG, and love the message she left with the world-the message that women are a force and capable of anything a man is capable of, and then some. Happy Women’s History Month! #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenBusinessOwners #WomenAdvocates
