Consulting has long been a not so positively perceived discipline.
Some consider the role to be entirely academic, focused on the imposition of reports and strategies, and not on practical support.
Others, with good reason, have no experience with the concept beyond governments handing out millions annually in apparently political, non-productive transactions.
As with anything else, consulting can in fact live up to its bad name; being either or both of the above.
However, I choose to call myself a consultant and not something else because I want to shift the paradigm. O'Neal Alexander Consulting Group will create, through results, a fresh idea.
By returning on their investment and exceeding their expectations, organizational leaders will come to value this discipline not just for the insight of the consultative process of assessment, planning and the like, but also for the project management element of executing recruitments, marketing campaigns, restructurings etc. to best align with defined strategic goals.
I also have to quickly add that I have an industry crush on McKinsey & Company and couldn’t wait to share this quote!
This Friday, we share a quote from James O. McKinsey, the founder of McKinsey and Company, the world's largest management consulting firm,
"The key to success in consulting is always going above and beyond what is expected."
This quote defines the ethos which inspired the continued success of James O. McKinsey's eponymous legacy, and similarly drives us as consultants to push beyond the boundaries of conventional limit to return often unexpected value to our clients!
