I’m interested in how a general purpose RISC-V MCU does in the market—I have no doubt there will be clients for it but it’s possibly the toughest row to hoe for the architecture, in that you lose the initial benefits of customisation. It’s still a fantastic low-power core even right off the shelf, and there is value in ownership for people sensitive to licensing restrictions. I will be keeping my eye on Renesas’s use of RISC-V, especially in areas where it overlaps their proprietary technology.
