Why Challenging Times? Business is tough, but there are a variety of factors driving that. McKinsey looks at some of the issues behind the financial challenges of the consumer goods business and highlights some of the headwinds- the megatrends of disruption that are making business tougher- not just for this category, but also for others. From a population slowdown to declines in wealth, China's growth decline, to consumer attention focused on digital, crop failures, etc... Somewhat predictably AI is highlighted as one potential solution forming the backbone of what McKinsey describes as a Marketing Revolution. "Many of these skills can now be accelerated by gen AI, for which we see four front-runner use cases: accessing proprietary insights, accelerating product and brand innovation, adapting creative content, and optimizing media campaigns and spend.
