[Divisional News] The Mechanical Seals Division has finalised two documents on seal emission performance, which will soon be available in the ESA Knowledgebase. Three new training modules focusing on single and dual mechanical seals, as well as containment seals, are in review, with voiceovers to follow. The ESA visited Achema 2024, the largest trade show for chemical engineering, process industry, and biotechnology, held in Frankfurt from June 10-14, 2024. The main topics relating to the sealing industry were product innovation, hydrogen, and PFAS.    #ESA #SealingIndustry #Achema2024

[Divisional News] The Packings Division is investigating methods to reduce PTFE extrusion at high temperatures. Tighter-tolerated sintered PTFE discs have been forwarded to Amtec to repeat the ISO 15848 CO1 test using these as end rings. DHBW Mannheim University has completed tests with expanded graphite packings using hydrogen, with the results to be compared with a similar test using helium.   [PFAS Update] The FPP4EU, a sector group of CEFIC, held a meeting in June to discuss the latest developments on the PFAS restriction proposal. Over 5600 consultation comments were reviewed, focusing on alternatives, exemptions and socio-economic impacts.   The Committees for Risk Assessment (RAC) and Socio-Economic Analysis (SEAC) have reached preliminary conclusions for four sectors affected by the PFAS restriction proposal. They will communicate their final opinions after further evaluations and discuss other sectors in the upcoming meetings.   In the meantime, Denmark has reached a political agreement to ban PFAS in certain products by July 1,2026.   More in the article below. 👇   #PFAS #PFASrestriction #SealingDevices #Fluoropolymers
