🌟 Albania's August Tourism Boom 🏖️ August proved to be a historic milestone for Albania's tourism sector! The latest data from INSTAT shows a substantial increase in both the number of visitors to tourist facilities and their overnight stays. Durrës, Lezhë, and Shkodra regions stood out, hosting the highest share of foreign visitors and experiencing the most significant growth. They accounted for nearly 41% of tourist night stays, compared to 31% in central regions (Tirana and Elbasan) and 29% in the south (Berat, Fier, Gjirokastër, Korçë, Vlorë). INSTAT reports a remarkable 64.4% overall increase in the number of visitors in August 2023 compared to August 2022. Resident visitors increased by 65.6%, and non-resident visitors grew by 63.7%. Accommodation facilities also saw a notable surge, with a 58.5% increase in the number of overnight stays in August 2023 compared to August 2022. Key highlights: 🌍 Northern regions experienced the highest growth, notably Durrës, Shëngjin, and Velipojë. 🏨 Hotels and similar accommodations in these coastal zones witnessed a 77.1% increase in visitor night stays. 🧳 Visitors from neighboring Kosovo accounted for 19% of the influx, followed by Italians at 9%, Poles at 6%, and Germans at 5%.
