"Our democracy is attacked inside and outside" - UVDL -
Nobody is attacking as much as this "democracy" is attacking against citizens unprofitable to the state. This is "self-defense" from Ursula whose dirty plans of European Union, comission and parliament has exposed, thanks to this FAKE WAR of Ukraine.
This democracy of Ursula, unfortunately is the same as what was used by Hitler and how this "democracy" is the best system for state leaders to bury and hide all the crimes against citizens and their connection to these disasters that haunt Europeans.
📢 Re-election of Ursula von der Leyen as President of the European Commission
Key takeaways for financial services:
💰 Investment Commission: Von der Leyen’s second term will be an "investment Commission." To unlock the financing needed for the tween transition, Europe must complete the Capital Markets Union. This is expected to attract EUR 470 billion in investments annually. Recognizing Europe's deficit in private capital, the Commission will introduce risk-absorption methods to incentivize investors to fund European companies.
💹 Tackling Market Fragmentation: With EUR 300 billion in savings moving abroad each year, von der Leyen aims to address the fragmentation of financial markets, ensuring that capital remains within Europe to fuel innovation. Echoing proposals made by former Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta in his report on the future of the Single Market, the Commission plans to propose a European Savings and Investment Union.
🚀 European Competitiveness Fund: A new proposal for this fund will support key projects in strategic technologies, with the first set of common projects expected in early 2025, as part of the next multiannual financial framework.
🌏 Economic Foreign Policy: To adapt to global challenges, the Commission will complete the review of the foreign direct investment screening framework and address outbound investment risks, reinforcing Europe’s economic sovereignty.
🌐 Global Gateway Expansion: The initiative will be taken to the next level with an integrated offer, including infrastructure investments, in collaboration with public development banks, the EIB, the EBRD, export credit agencies, and the private sector.
Newt Steps?
Von der Leyen will now proceed to select candidates for the Commissioner roles and allocate their respective portfolios. However, these candidates must still be approved by the European Parliament before they can officially begin their new positions!

#EURASHE welcomes the proposed structure of the European Commission, as announced this morning by President-Elect Ursula von der Leyen 🇪🇺
We are especially pleased that the new Commission will have a strong voice that connects #highereducation to the Union of Skills. With her expertise in Cohesion Policy, Vice President-designate Roxana Minzatu understands that people and #skills are the basis for #competitiveness, social justice, and tackling Europe's demographic challenges.
People also drive #research and #innovation, which is why we urge the new Commission to strongly integrate this portfolio with that of Commissioner-designate Ekaterina Zaharieva. As European civil society calls for deeper policy alignment, we will continue to advocate for more and not less—particularly in areas affecting higher education institutions.

Today, the BBC published an important story on leading cities are bringing #biodiversity back to their territories by removing unnecessary strips of pavement. The article features our beautiful member city stad Leuven and all of the benefits this can bring - #depaving allows water to soak into the ground, which reduces the risk of flooding and helps wildlife to remain in urban spaces by allowing the growth of native flora. The planting of trees both produces shade, protecting against heatwaves and improves citizen's health.
Next week, the far-right in the European Parliament wants to stop this happening in other cities. The Nature Restoration Law is a key pillar of the Green Deal and vital to the future liveability of our cities.

Measures developed within the European Union cannot disregard the importance of local realities. This is precisely why the European Committee of the Regions was created, a collegial body that intervenes at different stages of the Union's legislative process.
The CoR represents the interests of regional and local authorities in the European Union and its importance is even greater in the light of the Green Deal and its implementation, following the principle of 'think global, act local'.

Parliamentary development is crucial as it strengthens democracy by making parliaments more representative, open, and accountable. It involves enhancing the skills of parliamentarians and their secretariats, fostering legislative scrutiny, and promoting gender equality. This development supports the democratic process, ensuring that governments reflect the will of the people and address global challenges effectively. 🌎 #GovTech
The Common Principles for Support to Parliaments are 10 years old! 🥳 A foundation for cooperation between parliaments and development partners, the principles are endorsed by 147 parliaments and 31 partner organizations. WFD is proud to join the Inter-Parliamentary Union today in Geneva to evaluate the common principles and further strengthen parliamentary democracy.
The common principles have served as a compass, helping parliaments navigate the complex and continuously evolving parliamentary ecosystem. Today, we will reflect on the present state of parliamentary development, and look to the future, helping to identify new tools and products that can help ensure that parliamentary strengthening programmes contribute to addressing global challenges and the problems that matter to people.

The main function of the European Council is to provide the EU with general political direction and priorities. It does not have direct legislative powers. Last week the heads of state or government of EU countries met at the European Council summit, which usually takes place quarterly.
It is also the European Councils task to propose the candidate as the Commission President.
