Highly recommend applying❗️🇪🇺 For my experience read below: In the words of Mārtiņš: “I want to emphasize that the Blue Book Traineeship, and the so-called EU Bubble in Brussels, is for people from all sorts of socio-economic and academic backgrounds—truly, for those coming from remote rural areas, like myself, to vibrant metropolitan regions of EU Member States. It is for those who have completed their studies in political science, law, multimedia communications, and graphic design, to graduates in food technology and cybersecurity studies… One piece of advice I would give to current students and my fellow young professionals who are either planning to apply for the Blue Book Traineeship or have thought of having a career in European Institutions or leading an international career path: do your best in all subjects, but most importantly, focus and specialize in subjects and professional fields you are passionate about. This is essential both for being able to enjoy and still love your job when it gets busy, and also to stand out among other applicants for the Blue Book Traineeship and in the job market generally. Regarding the Blue Book Traineeship itself, as someone who has been passionate about EU policy-making and (cyber) diplomacy, and a true believer in the European Project, and as someone who has previously had the opportunity to complete internships at Latvian diplomatic missions to the United Nations in Geneva and the Embassy of Latvia in the Netherlands, nothing competes with the early career and networking opportunities the Blue Book Traineeship can offer. Throughout this traineeship, I developed new skills, such as writing non-papers, notes, and speaking points, organizing roundtable discussions, and learning about inter-institutional relations of the EU institutions and internal administrative processes that are unique to EU policy-making practices. Lastly, one of the highlights of this traineeship, among others such as being at the epicenter of the development and implementation of EU cyber diplomacy policies and initiatives, and working on EU-NATO relations vis-à-vis emerging and disruptive technologies (EDTs), was the time when I received a briefing request to prepare speaking points on EDTs for President Ursula von der Leyen prior to her trip to the NATO 2024 Summit.”  “To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield” /A.L.T./ ”.

An opportunity to gain insight on how the European Union works

Last week was the last one that I spent at the European Commission Representation in Poland as a #BlueBook #trainee in the Information and Communication Sector. 🇪🇺 These 5 months were both challenging and extremely satisfying. They involved two study visits to Brussels and many outside events that I had a chance to participate in. 👥 During my traineeship, I had an opportunity to support both the Information and Communication Sector and the Political Sector as I was: -assisting in the coordination of communication projects (the main project I was involved in was focused on cooperation with rural libraries all over Poland);  - giving presentations on traineeship opportunities within the EU institutions;  - organizing (including logistics and substance) in-house meetings for various stakeholder groups;  - working on publications;  - participating in the organization of high-level visits, including Commissioners' visits (including input for briefings);  - monitoring opinion polls;  - managing ad hoc tasks related to #communication and political activities. These months wouldn't have been so special without support from the team. From day one I felt like a part of the team, everyone was doing their best to give me opportunities to grow and learn. I am and will always be beyond grateful for that. 🤗 Thank you for giving me this opportunity, I believe that I did my best to use it to the fullest. 👏 I know that it's only the beginning of my #European adventure! 😍 #EU #traineeship

📣 The applications for the Blue Book traineeship from the European Commission are now open until 15 March! I still look back at my own experience as a Blue Book trainee with great pleasure and I can really recommend giving it a try to get in. For myself, and many others, the Blue Book traineeship was the start of a great adventure in Brussels and the EU institutions. But there are much more reasons to apply and here are just some of them: 1️⃣ A more than fair allowance for your work; 2️⃣ A great way to get to know the EU institutions from inside, and you do get the opportunity also to visit others like the European Parliament and the European Council; 3️⃣ It is a traineeship with an impact: you get the opportunity to contribute to files that influence the lives of all people in the EU and often beyond; 4️⃣ Long-lasting friendships (believe me, the Blue Book traineeship is not all about work 😉); 5️⃣ There is something for everyone: no matter your study background, there is a wide range of possibilities in the European Commission and there is always something that fits your interest, experience and background. So really, just apply and see where this adventure will take you! P.s.: if you are interested in a traineeship in an EU institution, make sure to check also the possibilities in other institutions than only the European Commission, for example the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, the European Economic and Social Committee or the Europees Comité van de Regio's . The European Union Blue Book Traineeships Program 2025, also known as the EU Traineeships Program, is an opportunity for young professionals to gain hands-on experience in the workings of the European Union. The program offers traineeships in various EU institutions and bodies, including the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the European Council. The EU Traineeships Program is open to students and recent graduates from all over the world.
