Your next EU destination will soon be closer than ever!    New EU rules on trans-European transport network will enter into force this week and bring our mobility system to the next level.  They will strengthen the backbone of our mobility system by setting many targets, including: 🚆a minimum speed for trains of 160km/h;  🅿️ Safe and secure parking areas every 150 km along the network;  ✈️ an obligation to connect major airports with long-distance rail;  📦 more rail freight to meet the current demand    Hop on the journey to bring our Europe closer! Next stop: 2030, with the completion of the core network.    Catch the connecting 🔗 and learn more about trans-European transport network → https://europa.eu/!Mqfvxh #EuropeanUnion

Are there some regulations on pricing? I don’t really care too much about the speed… if it’s 100km or 200km is not as important as the price. Nowadays a ticket from Berlin to Paris is 200€. Who is going to use the train if you can flight for much less? Tren Italia does a great job and offer very reasonable prices, trains in Italy are a great way of mobility. I hope that these measures do not put down or put blocks on train lines that work well despite not been so fast.

Having travelled through China recently, I can guarantee you that we are at least two decades behind. I recently travelled from Beijing to Shanghai (+/- 1200 km) in 4 hours. I bought the ticket about a week in advance and paid only about 80 euros. The train stopped 3 times, and while we were going 300 km/h, I ordered some food on the Chinese equivalent of UberEats, which was delivered to the next station, from where the train inspector took the orders and delivered it to me. Everything was clean, everyone had a seat. Meanwhile, two weeks ago, I paid 400 euros to go from Zurich to Brussels, a roughly equivalent distance. When buying the ticket, I was told I had to change only once and that the journey would last 7 hours, but because of interruptions and 'unforeseen circumstances' I had to change 4 (!) times and the journey lasted a mind-boggling 12 hours. During the first half of the journey, even people in first class had to sit on the ground. During the second half, there was trash in my seat. When will the minimum speed for trains between big cities be 400 km/h? And tickets under 100 euros?

And...? One ticket for a journey e.g. Liege-Valencia?? E-ticket? One (central) EU booking system? A booking and reservation system that is able to compete with booking a flight? Also price wise? That 's what I dream on.

It would be extremely useful to also improve the bus system throughout Europe We are promoting a European Citizens' Initiative to do so! Help us by signing here on the EU website: https://eci.ec.europa.eu/039/public/#/screen/home

The western balkans deserves to be connected a lot better than it is currently. Specifically for Albania we advocate strongly for trains going international. Image shipping goods from Durrës to Pristina and even into the EU towards Greece and Bulgaria via rail. Albania should be a massive hub for import/export in the region with a good connected train network.

It's such a shame that there's no Northern Route in the Netherlands. Groningen could easily connect Amsterdam to Bremen....

This should have been done 30 years ago, when the Eurostar project was in progress. At that time very few countries understood the strategic importance of railways.
