It's becoming harder and harder for organisations to detect potential cyber threats, due to the rise in access brokering. Orange Cyberdefense Cy-Xplorer 2024 Report is Now Live! The newly released Cy-Xplorer 2024 report unveils a dramatic 77% increase in cyber extortion victims over the past year and a worrisome 160% surge in attacks targeting healthcare organisations. Cyber Extortion (Cy-X), which compromises digital assets to extort payment, is on the rise. 60 threat actors were responsible for 4,374 cases last year, and recent law enforcement data suggests the actual number of victims is at least 50% higher than recorded. The impact is widespread, affecting 75% of countries and all 20 NAICS industries since 2020. Small businesses are hit 4.2 times more often than medium and large businesses combined.
