„Life on Earth“ was the first book I asked for as a child, and it had a profound impact on how I see the world. David Attenborough’s work introduced me to the breathtaking biodiversity of our planet, from the arid deserts to lush jungles, from the deep seas to the icy poles. He showed how each life on this planet is interconnected and finely tuned together. I remember vividly reading about the Albatross, with its impressive wingspan, in his book "The Living Planet"; the mesmerizing dance of the bird of paradise, and the gigantic Goliath beetle as big as my palm in "Life on Earth." Each story deepened my awe for the natural world. Einstein once remarked, "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle" (attributed to him though not definitively proven). David Attenborough embodies this philosophy, revealing to us the miracles all around. Today, his message is more urgent than ever as we face the sixth mass extinction. Unlike previous events caused by natural phenomena, this extinction is driven by human activity, including habitat destruction, climate change, and pollution. Researchers indicate we are currently witnessing species going extinct at rates much higher than the natural background rates, highlighting the critical need for urgent action to prevent future loss. As a conscious species, it is our duty to protect the miracle of life on this blue planet. We are not the end result of evolution but a part of it. Our future depends on the conscious decisions we make today. Humanity cannot thrive without respecting and protecting all living beings on our planet, our home. Thank you, David Attenborough, for inspiring us to see and safeguard the wonders of our world. 🌿 #Biodiversity #Conservation #DavidAttenborough #LifeOnEarth #ProtectOurPlanet

We are delighted to announce Lee (Frank) Spencer BEM will be The SHE Show North East 2024 After Dinner Key Note Speaker! The SHE Show North East Networking Evening Dinner will be taking place the evening prior to the show. 🗓 Monday 18th March 2024 📍Hilton Newcastle Gateshead For more information visit: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/evBTAdrX Lee’s personal story is one of courage, inspiration and so much more! Lee had a fulfilling 24-year career as a Royal Marine Commando. After coming through three operational tours of Afghanistan unscathed, Lee lost his right leg after being hit by an engine block as he was helping a motorist who had crashed into the central reservation of the M3 in Surrey in 2014. Although his right leg was severed in the impact, the serviceman’s training kicked in and he was able to instruct bystanders on how to tie a tourniquet and help paramedics to save his life. In 2015, Lee set-off to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean in just a rowing boat. The Row2Recovery team of four injured veterans had just 3 legs between them. In February 2016, some 46 days, 6 hours and 49 minutes later they rowed into Antigua and the record books as the world’s first physically disabled crew of four to row any ocean. Following this, Lee became the world’s first physically disabled person to row from mainland Europe to mainland South America solo and unsupported. Lee Spencer, The Rowing Marine, broke the able bodied record by an astonishing 36 days and also broke the record for the longest solo and unsupported ocean row by a physically disabled person, a total of 3 Guinness World records. #TheSHEshow #TheSHEshowNE #Safety #Health #Environment #Conference #Exhibition #OvercomingAdversity #Resilience #MentalHealth #Wellbeing #Behaviour #BehaviourScience #CultureChange #ClimateChange #Sustainability #SocialValue #InspirationalLeadership #LegalUpdates
