❓ Do you think co-ops and internships are important? ❓ We know that relevant work experience through #coops and #internships play a huge part in getting a relevant job after graduation. Yet shockingly, only 9% of Canadian students have access to these vital opportunities. In 2022, there were approximately 88,000 students in some form of work-integrated learning out of ~925,000 students enrolled in University and College. The "Innovative Work-Integrated Learning Program (IWIL)" is being reviewed in the upcoming Federal Budget review. This program is designed to break down barriers and democratize access to career development opportunities. We need to advocate for critical funding for the upcoming budget on April 16th to ensure that everyone has access to innovative training and equitable access to work opportunities. Requiring interns to have their own car is unrealistic.It’s important to consider that most interns are just starting their careers and may not have the financial means to own a vehicle. Emphasizing skills and potential over car ownership would make the opportunity more accessible.

I am excited to share that I have successfully completed the first half of my virtual work experience program at #brownejacobson. The tasks were as follows: 1) Settlement Agreement for an employment dispute- A disgruntled employee posted wrongful comments about the company. The CEO sent a letter terminating her. My task was to review the initial Settlement Agreement between the two parties and to suggest changes. 2)Review a marketing contract with an influencer- The task was to review the marketing agreement for grammar and its suitability for the Company. 3) Advise an Education Trust on a student dispute- I had to look at the Complaints Policy of an education trust and two letters of complaint by parents to determine if the Policy had been followed. The next thing was to draft a Memorandum of Advice, advising on the subsequent consequences based on the Policy.
