I had added CPR training offered by the American Red Cross Serving Iowa to my 2024 to-do's. I hoped that learning a LIFESAVING skill is one that I hopefully never have to use, but when the time comes, I am READY to JUMP IN and Help. ⭐️ I got my CPR certification this summer, this training has been one of the most rewarding skills I have learned. ✅ This week, Over the 2 days, We partnered with the American Red Cross North Carolina and American Red Cross Central Iowa to facilitate a CPR instructor led lunch and learn sessions on Campus at Principal 🥳 🥳 Several employees in Des Moines, IA and Charlotte, NC of Principal Financial Group participated in the Hands Only CPR class on campus and prepared themselves to act when required when emergency situations arise. 🙏 I am grateful to have the privilege and opportunity to lead this impactful event at Principal Financial Group and share this skill building opportunity with colleagues and our employees. ❤️ Huge Thank you to Leslie Schaffer (Iowa) and Jason Gudzunas (Charlotte) at the Red Cross who helped me in planning and in getting this event together, They made it possible to offer sessions concurrently at both our Home Office Locations of Principal. When you immediately provide Hands-Only CPR, you can increase the chance of survival. The American Heart Association (AHA) estimates that survival rates increase to 40% or higher when hands-only CPR is performed promptly. CPR is a lifesaving technique that can be performed by anyone, including bystanders, on adults, infants, and children. It's used in emergencies when someone's breathing or heartbeat has stopped, such as during a heart attack, choking, near-drowning, or drug overdose. For those untrained or uncertified in standard CPR, hands-only CPR using chest compressions is a simple and effective alternative.
